• We are a multi-Service (Joint) organization of Warfighters
• We are governed by a Joint Actions Steering Committee
(JASC) comprised of senior leaders from the Service
doctrine centers
• We develop tactical-level solutions to multi-Service
interoperability issues consistent with Joint and Service
doctrine
• We leverage Service SMEs to develop a common
understanding of capabilities and multi-Service Tactics,
Techniques, and Procedures (MTTP)
Air Land Sea Application (ALSA) Center Who we are…
3
• Building on Service synergy from Vietnam, CSAF (Gen Brown) and
CSA (GEN Abrams) saw a need for: • Army and Air Force coordination / interoperability
• Organization that cuts through bureaucratic “red tape”
• Rapidly meet the immediate needs of the Warfighter
• 1975: ALFA established by HQ TAC/HQ TRADOC
• 1986: Goldwater-Nichols National Security Act
• 1992: MCCDC and LANTFLT assigned permanent
billets to ALFA… became ALSA
• 1998: Joint Duty Assignment Validation Board
validated all ALSA Center positions as Joint
• 1998: Defense Reform Initiative Directive (DRID), decision to leave
ALSA independent of Joint Forces Command
• 2005: DOTMLPF Change Recommendation (DCR) from JS J-7;
Services and SOCOM non-concur with disestablishment of ALSA
