12 gauge (AWG) or larger. (Wiresize increases as gauge numberdecreases. 10 AWG and 8 AWG
may also be used. DO NOT USE14 OR 16 AWG.)
Voltage and Circuit Protection
Refer to the Parts Manual for the
voltage and minimum branch circuitrequirements.
Risk of UnsafeOperation, Certain
air compressors can be operatedon a 15 amp circuit if the followingconditions are met,
1. Voltage supply to circuit mustcomply with the NationalElectrical Code.
2. Circuit is not used to supply anyother electrical needs.
3. Extension cords comply withspecifications.
4. Circuit is equipped with a15 amp circuit breaker or 15amp time delay fuse. NOTE: Ifcompressor is connected to acircuit protected by fuses, useonly time delay fuses. Time delayfuses should be marked "D" inCanada and "T" in the US.

Safety Valve
Description of OperationBecome familiar with these controbbefore operating the unit.On/Auto/Off Switch: Turn this switch
"Auto/On" to provide automaticpower to the pressure switch and"Off" to remove power at the end ofeach use.
Pressure Switch: The pressureswitch automatically starts themotor when the air tank pressuredrops below the factory set "cut-in"pressure, it stops the motor when theair tank pressure reaches the factoryset "cut-out" pressure.Safety Vamve: if the pressure switchdoes not shut off the air compressorat its "cut-out" pressure setting, thesafety valve will protect against highpressure by "popping out" at itsfactory set pressure (slightly higherthan the pressure switch "cut-out"setting).Outlet Pressure Gauge: The outbtpressure gauge indicates the airpressure avaiIabb at the outlet sideof the regulator. This pressure iscontrolled by the regulator and isalways Iess than or equal to the tankpressure.
Regulator
Tank Pressure Gauge: The tankpressure gauge indicates the reserveair pressure in the tank.Regulator: Controls the air pressureshown on the outlet pressuregauge. Pull the knob out and turnclockwise to increase pressureand counterclockwise to decreasepressure. When the desired pressureis reached push knob in to lock inplace.Drain VaBve: The drain valve islocated at the base of the air tankand is used to drain condensation atthe end of each use.
Cooming System (not shown): Thiscompressor contains an advanceddesign cooling system. At the heart ofthis cooling system is an engineeredfan. It is perfectly normal for this fanto blow air through the vent holesin large amounts. You know that thecooling system is working when air isbeing expelled.
13-ENG A09707
Air Compressor Pump (not shown}:Compresses air into the air tank.Working air is not available until thecompressor has raised the air tankpressure above that required at theair outlet,Check Valve: When the air
compressor is operating, the checkvalve is "open", allowing compressedair to enter the air tank. When theair compressor reaches "cut-out"pressure, the check valve "closes",a!lowing air pressure to remain insidethe air tank.
Pressure Release Valve: Thepressure release valve located onthe side of the pressure switch, isdesigned to automatically releasecompressed air from the compressorhead and the outlet tube when theair compressor reaches "cut-out"pressure or is shut off. The pressurerelease valve allows the motor torestart freely. When the motor stopsrunning, air will be heard escapingfrom this valve for a few seconds. No air should be heard leaking whenthe motor is running or after the unitreaches "cut-out" pressure.
Motor Overload Protector: Themotor has an automatic resetthermal overload protector. If themotor overheats for any reason, theoverload protector will shut off themotor. The motor must be allowedto cool down before restarting. Thecompressor will automatically restartafter the motor cools.
