GENERAL DESCRIPTION

APPLICATION/SPECIFICATIONSTEC non-insulated roof fan is designed to be used for the extraction of exhaust air and other non-aggressive gases where low energy consumption, simple construction and demand con-trolled ventilation are required. It can be installed directly on the concrete or alternatively on a roof curb. The existing unit can be exchanged by using an installation frame, which is always includ-ed as standard in the delivery of STEC roof fan (sizes 225 - 630).

STEC is equipped with high efficiency EC-motors with integrated speed controller. The plastic impeller is optimized for high efficiency. The casing and motor-impeller-combination can be opened for easy service and maintenance. The fan is discharging vertically.

All components are designed and manufactured in accordance with quality assurance system ISO 9001 and the environmental management system ISO 14001.

The roof fan is CE marked.

FEATURES• 8 sizes• Volume flow rate up to 4.5 m3/s (16 200 m3/h)• Max pressure rise up to 1 000 Pa

MATERIAL AND DESIGNThe casing is made of black pre-painted galvanized sheet metal or aluminum and zinc coated sheet metal. Surface treatment meets requirements for environmental class C4. The fan dis-charges upwards.

MOTOR AND IMPELLERThe fans use external rotor EC motors with integrated speed con-troller. The motor is in the airstream and is cooled by the exhaust air. The impeller is made of plastic and has backward curved blades. The IP class for the motor is IP 54, insulation class is B and all motors are equipped with thermal overload protector (TOP) that is internally connected.

Fan can be equipped with an EC controller. All fans are balanced to meet the vibration level of 4.5 mm/s RMS ISO 14694.

WIRING CHARTSWiring charts are presented on pages 29 - 30.

SPEED CONTROLMotor speed can be controlled using analog 0 - 10 V signal or using an EC controller. EC CONTROLLERThe EC controller is installed inside the casing. The EC controller can be ordered as a ready to be used part. In this case it is in-cluded in the fan ordering code (see codes on page 31).

It is, however, not automatically included in the standard version of STEC so please check the ordering codes. The EC controller in-cludes the following operations:

• Single-speed use: speed is set using Low potentiometer

• Two-speed operation is set using Low and High potentiometers

• Relay output can be selected for either alarm or running indication

• 0 - 10 V control from BMS (Building Management System)



EASY INSTALLATION AND SERVICE Installation is presented in the installation manual and various control possibilities in a separate section of this catalogue.

DEMAND CONTROLLED VENTILATIONDemand controlled ventilation, DCV, is required by ErP Regula-tions. In practise this means that all roof fans shall be equipped with a speed controller. STEC roof fan range with EC motor has an integrated speed controller and thus the whole fan range is fully ErP compliant also in this sense.

Using DCV it is easy to adjust the correct fan speed and optimize the energy consumption.

Different sensors and controllers can be connected to the speed control system.

0 = STEC fan basic version

1 = STEC fan including safety switch (not wired, the cable is not included in delivery)

STEC can be installed on the concrete or on a roof curb using an installation frame.

The existing unit can be exchanged by using an installation frame, which is always included as standard in the delivery of STEC roof fan (except the smallest size 190). The fan is equipped as stand-ard with an opening mechanism that can be locked to open posi-tion. The impeller can be easily cleaned, if necessary.

REPLACING THE EXISTING ROOF FAN

STEC roof fans in sizes 225 - 630 are equipped with a mounting frame as standard. The mounting frame can be installed on the existing base made of concrete or on a roof curb.

STEC roof fan size 190 is delivered without the mounting frame. The fan can be installed on the concrete or on a roof curb.

As the fans have as standard the possibility to adjust the fan speed it is easy to replace the existing fan and adjust the air flow.

SOUND DATAThe total A-weighted sound power level to surroundings, LwA, can be read in the fan chart. The correction coefficients Koct by octave bands can be read in the table below the fan chart. The sound power level by octave band to the duct or to the surroundings (without A-weight-ing) can be obtained by using the following formula:

ACCESSORIES INCLUDED IN FAN PACKAGES

SAFE - SAFETY SWITCHThe safety isolation switch has been tested according to IEC 947-3.

It can be ordered and supplied as a part of the roof fan, not wired. The cable is not included in the delivery.

See corresponding wiring diagram on pages 29 - 30. Please see the fan ordering codes.

EC CONTROLLERWith a speed controller it is possible to get a single-speed or a two-speed operation. The relay output provides with alarm or running indication that can be selected by the DIP switch. Speed can also be controlled by 0 - 10 V via BMS (Building Management System).

The EC controller can be ordered and supplied as a part of the roof fan, connected to cable. Please see the fan ordering codes.

Internal cabling is carried out at the factory. Information for the user is available in the installation manual.

Modbus RTU communication with EC motor is still possible in fan sizes 355 - 630.

BOGA - ROOF CURB WITH INSULATION EI30The BOGA consists of a sheet metal duct, insulated inside with 50 mm thick mineral wool mat. The insulation is backed with perfo-rated sheet metal.

The roof curb is equipped with two cable glands and one built-in conduit, which can accommodate two cables for electrical con-nection to the roof fan. Adjustable mounting brackets, which can be set to suit the pitch of the roof, are fitted to the outside of the roof curb.

There are shutter plates located inside the roof curb.

Roof fan can be installed on the roof curb using the mounting frame that is included in the roof fan delivery as standard.

The roof curb is made of aluminum and zinc coated sheet metal.

FLAT ROOF SOCKET STEZ-01The roof socket STEZ-01 is made of corrosion resistant fibre glass. It is designed for mounting on flat roofs or roofs with a maximum pitch of 15 °.

For saddle roofs a BOGA roof duct is available. The roof socket is equipped with a connection flange according to DIN 24 154, part 1.

The roof is secured to the flat roof socket by means of 4 screws.

STEZ-07 - INLET SOUND ATTENUATORThe STEZ-07 sound attenuator is used to attenuate the sound level to the duct on the inlet side. It is made of aluminium and zinc coated sheet metal. The baffles inside are made of mineral wool and they are covered by fibre class film. The inlet of the sound attenuator is square. If the sound attenuator is supposed to be connected to a circular duct, a separate mounting plate STEZ-04 can be used under the STEZ-07.
