Europe will have the most dynamic, agile IoT ecosystem and industry in the world which transforms people’s lives, drives growth, creates employment and addresses societal challenges.

Today we agree, in partnership with the European Commission, that collaborative and innovation driven activities are timely necessary in order to drive a successful take-up of the Internet of Things.

By understanding the potential of connected things, their intelligence and smart data, we all support the creation of an IoT ecosystem, which supports openness, value creation, scalability, sustainability and co-existence.

Core principles are to cooperate and share knowledge with existing and new partners of all sizes along value chains, to adopt agile approaches and to search flexible agreements for convergence, interoperability and standardisation.

Through common reference models and IoT Large Scale Pilot activities we aim to bring IoT forward and to stimulate service creation, acceptance and take-up from the user and creator perspectives.

Building the ecosystem (discussions across groups, members, national actors etc.): This should become the core task of AIOTI Link with ICT30 projects

Digital Single Market: AIOTI can be a key contributor to the IoT chapters of the DSM Ambition should be to define a IoT policy (beyond technology) First step= develop use cases per IoT application (e.g connected car)

Make AIOTI a business and a policy tool: Providing services to its members Meeting market needs and policy needs

Round table during the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA): automated and connected cars organised by Commissioner Oettinger

Work on common roadmaps to speed up the development and deployment of connected automated driving. These roadmaps will cover better connectivity, mobile network coverage and reliability, the take-up of connected automated driving and how to address any security and privacy concerns of users.

DG Connect would like to use AIOTI as a main channel to deliver on this challenge.

26

A concrete challenge: smart mobility

Options for AIOTI: Legal forms and resourcesOptions Legal form Resources

1. Stay as it is Informal forum without legal personality

No own resources, voluntary contributions in kindLogistical support from the EC

2. Exclusive partnership Informal forum without legal personality

No own resources, but partnership with e.g. a trade association that provides services to AIOTI members. It would probably need to be an exclusive partner and AIOTI members would pay this partner for services (e.g. Freemium model)
