Sunday Reading Reflection

God is patient. The risen Lord appears and his best friends still don't get his most excellent surprise. They are afraid and think he is a spooky ghost. But he is patient.

He dumbs it down for them. He eats some fish. He has a body. He is not a ghost. He is not spooky. He is not coming back to haunt them. He is truly alive. God is patient with us. We are slow at times. We are dumb at times. God is never tired of our need to have things spelled out again and again. He is love and the course of our life now, forever, making us patient with each other. Please remember that the Archdiocese has asked us to refrain from shaking hands at the sign of Peace or holding hands during the Our Father during this Flu Season. ~Sue Ann Prayer Families Needed If you have 5 minutes or 10 minutes a day to say a prayer for a newly baptized child and their family, we need you! This helps our new families to feel apart of our larger St. John’s family. We have two celebrations a year to welcome all newly baptized families to our family. So all you need to do is make a commitment for 6 months at a time. Please help by taking a picture - leave the babies name then your name and address on the slip provided. This will help families and Our family at St. John’s. The next baptism celebration will be June 17th. ~Marion Parker Our Parish Mission Trip will be going to Oil City, Pennsylvania, July 22-28, 2018. The trip is open to all students

entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2018, so that includes current 8th graders. We will once again be going through Catholic Heart WorkCamp, whose mission is “to foster the Catholic Faith of each participant through the sacraments, prayer and involvement in social service.” This promises to be an inspirational and fun week where you’ll live your Faith by helping local residents with anything from painting or

This past weekend’s offertory was: $4,629.00 Our 2nd collection for our mortgage was:

$1,793.00 Our 2nd collection this weekend is for our utilities. Did you know that you can get the Sunday bulletin sent right to your email every week? It arrives on Saturday, and will give you a heads up on all sorts of things. Be prepared for that 2nd collection, or cut out the Religious Education information so that you can remember what week we are holding classes for your child, or even take a look at Father's article early! Just go to our website at: TownsendCatholic.org. Click on "BULLETINS” and scroll down to "Email Subscription to Bulletins". That's it... why not give it a try? Our parish is currently in the early stages of a capital campaign, and we have decided to include our Catholic Appeal goal in the campaign this year only. As we proceed with this capital campaign, you may have noticed that our parish did not have a separate Catholic Appeal mailing or In Pew appeal in March like the rest of the Archdiocese. Instead, donors to the capital campaign taking place this spring will also be participating in the 2018 Catholic Appeal. Please be on the lookout for more information about the campaign in the coming weeks and months. The Catholic Appeal will return to its normal publicity and in-pew schedule in 2019. Thank you for your continued support and generosity to St. John’s.
