Each of our Prayer Diaries covers 13 weeks, with each week focusing on a particulartheme a country, an unreached people group,or a type of ministry. There is a brief introduction, prayer items for each day and a single summaryprayer focus for those who use the diary weekly.

Irecently visited a Creative Access Nation for the rsttime, and was struck byhearing the Muslim call toprayer regularly ringing out.

Witnessing those around mefollowing the requirementsfor washing themselves and repeating prayerslearnt by rote, made me think about an amazingcouple of verses from Hebrews 10, Since wehave condence to enter the most holy placeby the blood of Jesus... let us draw near to Godwith a sincere heart and with the full assurancethat faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled tocleanse us from a guilty conscience.

I was struck by our freedom as Christians to enterGods presence and speak with him. No externalritual washing required, for he has cleansed ourhearts, once and for all.

As well as this wonderful truth, another thoughtstruck me. A devout Muslim gladly heeds the callto prayer ve times a day and plans their schedulearound this commitment. What a challenge! Sooften, in my own diary, I allow other activities inmy busy life to squeeze out time to pray.

Tank you for making time to pray for AIMs workand for standing with us as we long to see Christ-centred churches among all African peoples, evenin the darkest of places.

    MONDAY 7 JULY

7 Mentoring interns, youngdoctors and nurses is an

important part of medicalministry. Pray that God woulduse me to communicate to themGods great heart of love forpeople. May they not only learnpalliative skills but learn to seepatients as God sees them hisprecious treasures.

how their futures might involvereaching the unreached throughmedicine.

    HURSDAY 10 JULY

10 Partnering withgovernment healthcareservices provides an excellentongoing opportunity to interact

with staff, some of whom havenever heard the gospel or seenit in action. Pray that AIMersserving in these settings wouldsee beyond the frustrations andinefficiencies to people createdin Gods image, needing his love.

    FRIDAY 11 JULY

11 Christian healthcarefacilities often faceongoing nancial challenges, but are places where the lightof the gospel can shine brightly.Pray for those AIMers involvedin care provision, administration, teaching, etc, that the love ofJesus would shine through theirinteractions with patients andothers.

SA URDAY 12 JULY12 Geography does notliberate cross-culturalworkers from the relationalstruggles and internal politicsthat too often beset Christiancommunities. Pray for eachhealthcare professional servingwith AIM, that they would clothe

themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentlenessand patience in their interactionswith patients, colleagues andothers around them.

    Ministry Focus: Healthcare

Jesus healed, and in both word and deed impressed upon his

followers that God cares about the whole person, not just theirsoul. Christ came to reconcile all of fallen creation to himself;this has implications for peoples relationships not only with God,but also with themselves, others, and creation itself. Through awide variety of healthcare ministries (e.g. preventive, curative, rehabilitative, palliative) AIM seeks to restore individuals andtheir relationships and lead them toward fellowship with theLord Jesus himself.

    Weekly focus

Eleanor is a familypractitioner withpalliative care credentialsworking in a governmenthospital to help develop theirpalliative care programme.Since palliative care includesspiritual care as well aspsychological, physicaland social care, it is a greatavenue for holistic medicalministry. About half of the

    SUNDAY 20 JULY

20 We work in developmentand the basis of alldevelopment is being createdin Gods image. Problems inindividuals and societies arisebecause that image is marredand the relationship withGod broken. Developmentbegins with restoring brokenrelationships through healthcare, TEFL, literacy, exerciseclasses and art.

    MONDAY 21 JULY

21 Our town is a major site ofpilgrimage and religiouseducation for the region, pilgrimsand scholars come from manydifferent countries. Local peopleare often theologically literateand everyone is happy to talkabout the things of God. We are

able to share Gods words openly,we pray the Spirit uses them tomove people.

    UESDAY 22 JULY

22 During Ramadanopportunities arise to talkmore deeply on issues like whatdoes God require of us? Howcan we truly please God? Canwe know if we are acceptableto God? It is also a time ofcelebration and sharing, of peaceand reconciliation.

    WEDNESDAY 23 JULY

23 We are a team of 6people; 2 single girls, ayoung couple (with a 2 year old)and us with a 17 year old! Thereis culture shock in a new countryand within a multinational team. Our curriculum is designed tobuild teams and train membersto lead teams themselves later. We are all having rough edgessmoothed and are learning tomodel the body of Christ to ourneighbours.

    HURSDAY 24 JULY

24 The key to understandingculture is learning thelanguage. Having the languageability of a kindergarden kidis a great answer to Westernarrogance. People love teachingthose who want to learn and aredelighted we value them enoughto want to learn their language.

Perseverance is the key.FRIDAY 25 JULY

25 Spiritual oppression isvery real and very intense. Our team have experienceddirect attack and there arecertain parts of town where jinnare known to gather. Such forcesthrive on chaos confusion and

misunderstanding. Mistrust, illhealth, suspicion and insecurityare all used against us.

    SA URDAY 26 JULY

26 Dreams and visions forman accepted part of apersons spiritual pilgrimage. They often allow God to get

someones attention and leadthem to Jesus. Many peoplerst become interested in Jesusthrough a dream or vision. Wethen have opportunity to explainwho he is, but only Jesus has thepower to save.

    20-26 July

    Weekly focus

In every place God isworking in peoples hearts, here is no exception. Weseek to maintain a presencethrough relationships, prayer and proclamation. Our role then is to witnessto our colleagues, friendsand neighbours anddiscover where God is atwork. Presence, Prayer andProclamation.

    Area Focus: Creative Access

Unreached by the church and neglected by their governmentbut ercely proud of their history, culture & orthodoxy. These are the people we are called to serve. They read the Quranin Arabic but many cannot read the newspaper in their ownlanguage. We are one year into leading 2 year teams; 6 peoplewith a calling to seek the lost and proclaim the good news of thekingdom by living along side, learning from and loving people.

The large majority are unreached by the gospel, withvery few national or ex-pat missionaries working amongthem. AIMs ministry among the Bara started with a TIMO team in 2004 in a small village. Now a Focus Team is working in Betroka to help encourage andequip local believers to reach out to the Bara.

Therefore encourage oneanother and build eachother up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Tessalonians 5:11

    3-9 August Weekly focus

Please prayfor the challenges faced byhomeschooling families onthe mission eld.

    Ministry focus: Homeschooling

God has called AIM to focus on the unreached peoples ofAfrica. There are still more than 900 unreached peoplegroups in Africa. Most of these groups are unreached becausethey are in difficult locations to work with limited educationaloptions. As AIM moves more and more into their areas, homeschooling seems to be the best option for most families. But homeschooling brings many challenges. This week we focusour prayer on a few of these challenges

After the genocide,a new brand of churches emerged, pentecostal congregationsstarted by diaspora returning to their homeland. Although the Samburubelieve in one CreatorGod, most do not understandthat God became man inJesus Christ so that theymay live in fellowship withGod. Pray that our teammay nd meaningful waysto communicate this goodnews.

    People focus: The Samburu

The Samburu of northern Kenya live very traditionally. They herdcattle, sheep, goats and sometimes camels. Their houses are simpleas they often move depending on the rains and the availability ofgrazing. Although Christian churches can be found in towns, there ishardly any gospel witness in the scattered communities of the lowlands. The Samburu TIMO Team moved to Lchakwai in March 2014. Their goal isto learn the Samburu language and culture, build relationships, and shareChrist in those relationships.
