NATIONAL OUTCOMES 2013

“AIME IS MY FAVOURITE PART OF HIGH SCHOOL! I HAD THE WORST FIRST YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND AIME MADE EVERYTHING BETTER. I HAVE MORE MOTIVATION AND CONFIDENCE IN MY WORK THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.” KAHLI COOLWELL, MENTEE, BEERWAH STATE HIGH SCHOOL

BE BETTER TOMORROW AIME SNAPSHOT 2014

• AIME is a dynamic educational program that is proven to support Indigenous students through high school and into university, employment or further education at the same rate as all Australian students. AIME gives Indigenous students the skills, opportunities, belief and

to grow and succeed.

• AIME was ranked 26th in BRW’s Best Places to Work in Australia in 2013.

• We believe that Indigenous = success.

WHAT IS AIME?

AIME started in 2005 with 25 Indigenous high school students (mentees) and 25 volunteer university students (mentors).

In 2014, AIME is connecting approximately 3,500 mentees with 1,250 mentors across 29 locations and in partnership with 16 Australian universities in all mainland states and the ACT.

THE HISTORYBy 2018, AIME will annually engage 10,000 Indigenous high school students across Australia and support their transition to university, employment or further education at the same rate as every Australian child. This will build the Indigenous talent pipeline for employers to lead Australia into the future.

In 2013, the Year 9 to university progression rate for AIME students was 20.4 percent - times the national Indigenous average of 4.1 percent and moving toward the national non-Indigenous average of 37.4 percent. 77 percent of AIME students attend schools that are

below average by the Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA).

An independent economic evaluation conducted by KPMG found AIME contributed $38 million to the Australian economy in 2012. For each $1 spent on the AIME program, $7 in was generated.

Ask yourself: Who is AIME?

What impact does the AIME program have? When will your fundraising activity take place?

Why have you chosen to fundraise for AIME? How will funds raised impact AIME?

Want some help with this? Refer to page 2 the ‘AIME Snap Shot’ and page 3 of this pack for some fast facts about AIME.

You gotta OWN THIS!

The most successful fundraisers are those who COMMIT to the cause and make it their own. You don’t get milk from a cow by sitting and wishing... Get yourself ‘out there’, shout YOUR PITCH and the AIME MESSAGE from the rooftops! !

!!! !

Give it tangibility. Make it reachable. Remember, if you reach your target quickly, you can always increase it and go again! Check out Page 3 to get an idea of some suggested targets and the impact hitting these targets would have on the AIME program. !

! !

These are usually your close family and friends...Your biggest fans! They’ve known you forever, give them your pitch and they’ll hand the money over before you finish.!

These peeps need a reason to support you.. Offer them something they want (a party, a movie night, a meat raffle), sell it to them, and they’ll support you. !

Categorise everyone you know into the following 3 groups, it’ll help you effectively target your networks for support.

Although these people may not be giving money directly, with a little creativity, In – Kind supporters can be the ‘X – Factor’ to your fundraising.

Check out the table below showing how a seasoned fundraiser sees the full potential in possible In – Kind supporters in the community! !

Lets have a look at some of Nick’s fundraising secrets… How'd you do it?

• Online campaigning. • Tactically selecting people to sponsor me. • Sending emails to many of my mums friends allowed me to

extend my ask to more networks. • A final push to friends on social media.

Most successful tactic? Adjusting my fundraising target as I went along.

FAQ’s. Are donations made to this page tax deductible?

Yes all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Donors will receive a receipt automatically after donating online. Does the fundraising platform provider take a cut?

Everyday Hero deducts a small 6.5% administration fee from each gross donation made to AIME. There may be an additional fee depending on the payment type. Using a fundraising platform is a necessary cost AIME has factored in to be able to reach more donors and get more kids involved in the AIME program. What happens if some one pays in cash.

1.If your donor wants to pay cash they can simply click ‘donate now’ on your fundraising page and down load a pledge form to formally process the cash payment. 2.If your nan gives you cash for the cause, you can download the pledge form using the above instructions and process the payment yourself. Can the money go to specific mentee/mentees.

AIME has a diverse range of funding sources. This year’s operation has already been budgeted for. Money raised this year will be used for AIME to continue to expand and reach more kids in the future. Can I keep the expenses of my fundraising activity

through the money I bring in?

It is up to you! If you want to keep some of the money to cover the cost of your fundraising like hiring a hall or catering you can. You should try and get as much resources donated in-kind for your event as you can. Online campaigning is a free and effective way to fundraise.
