    8 SYNOPSIS: Existing law does not require the Alabama

    9 High School Athletic Association to adopt a rule to

    10 allow its public school members to compete only

    11 against each other for state championships, and its

    12 nonpublic school members to compete only against

    13 each other for state championships.

    14 This bill would require the Alabama High

    15 School Athletic Association to adopt a rule to

    16 allow its public school members to compete only

    17 against each other for state championships, and its

    18 nonpublic school members to compete only against

    19 each other for state championships.

    22 TO BE ENTITLED

    23 AN ACT

    24

    25 Relating to the Alabama High School Athletic

    26 Association; requiring the Alabama High School Athletic

    27 Association to adopt a rule to allow its public school members

    1 to compete only against each other for state championships,

    2 and its nonpublic school members to compete only against each

    3 other for state championships.

    4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

    5 Section 1. The Alabama High School Athletic

    6 Association shall adopt a rule to allow its public school

    7 members to compete only against each other for post regular

    8 season playoff games and state championships, and its

    9 nonpublic school members to compete only against each other

    10 for post regular season playoff games and state championships

    11 which shall be effective in the 2018-2019 school year and in

    12 subsequent years.

    13 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the

    14 first day of the third month following its passage and

    15 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
