They are not really called iBeacons
Beacons
Beacons are discrete, low powered and low cost transmitters that you can attach to a location or object. Beacons broadcast tiny radio signals that contain a unique identifier which your smartphone or tablet can receive and interpret, if an app on the device recognises the unique identifier this can trigger an “event”.
Proximity
Beacons are not just for Christmas
Display of content / media / signage
Secure locking and unlocking of
a door
Admission / entry to an attraction
New ways of interacting with visitors
As you approach the coffee machine it remembers your preferred coffee and starts to make it
