Agusan Marsh is located in the middle of Agusan River Sub-basin in the heart of Central Mindanao of the Province of Agusan del Sur.

It serves as catch basin of rain water during rainy season that reduces immediate downstream flow of flood water into Butuan City.

It consists of 59 lakes that serves as haven of migratory birds and endemic species and also performs as catch basin that flows down the Agusan Valley.

It is considered as one of the most significant wetlands in the Philippine. It is home to a complex of terrestrial, wetland and freshwaters ecosystems harboring unique and pristine habitats.

A total of 31 species of flora, 127 species of birds (31 endemic; 10- threatened), 16 fresh water species, 41 species of reptiles, 10 species of mammals and 65 species of butterflies.
