IntroducBon  

  FAO  and  UNESCO-­‐IOC  released  a  customized  version  of  DSpace  –  an  Open  Source,  digital  document  repository  system.  

  The  communiBes  supported  by  FAO  and  UNESCO-­‐IOC/IODE  are  synergisBc  and  the  standards  on  metadata  and  controlled  vocabularies  are  similar  for  both.    

  Goals:      o  Promote  open  access  to  scienBfic  informaBon  o  Enhance  the  internal  scienBfic  communicaBon  o  Make  scienBfic  informaBon  more  accessible    o  Increase  impact  of  research  informaBon

 Aims  to  use  thesaurus  into  DSpace  in  order  to  be  able  to  pick  and  assign  keywords  for  indexing  

 The  plug-­‐in  is  needed  on  two  levels:  for  the  data  entry  process  and  for  the  browsing  by  subject  

 EsBmated  release:  October  2011

 VOA3R:  Virtual  Open  Access  Agriculture  &  Aquaculture  Repository:  Sharing  ScienBfic  and  Scholarly  Research  related  to  Agriculture,  Food,  and  Environment
