Matthew Chapter 27:1-2, 11-55
CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST FROM 2 VIEWPOINTS
John Gospel convey to us the wonder of
God's Glory and Grace and Love in the
death of Christ John 3:16
Matthew approaches the cross from the
standpoint of the wickedness of men. It is
wickedness unmatched ( Acts 2 Christ was
killed by wicked hands/ Jer 17:9)
WICKEDNESS AND CRUELTY OF MAN
THE SCARLET ROBE
MOCKERY OF MAN
THE. TORTURE OF CRUCIFIXION
THE WOODEN CROSS
IT IS FINISHED In John 19:30... Jesus last words It is Finished
In Greek ' tetelestai' it is an accounting
term....paid in full...Jesus was declaring that
the debt of sin has been paid in full by what He
has done on the cross.
Because of He has finished at the cross, we
can begin a new life in Him and reconciled to
God through the second Adam, Jesus who
gave us a new life in Him
AWESOME TESTIMONY A man who watched Jesus be scourged by the cruelty of
soldiers, mocked and abused Him and probable enjoyed
every minute of it
A man who was responsible for the death and to torture
of Jesus....he saw the contrast of many whom he had
crucified....usually swore and cursed...He noticed the
tender mercy in the voice of Jesus to the penitent
thief...He was amazed to see Jesus amidst His suffering
telling John to take care of his mother
When Jesus gave up His spirit, there was violent
earthquake...and this man confessed this was the Son of
God and certainly was a righteous man
