The Impact Assessment Taskforce
The top 4 measurements for assessing the impact and success of Europeana’s activities
1. To demonstrate acceptance of Europeana having a central role in the advocacy for standardisation for sharing Cultural Heritage online,
2. To demonstrate that Europeana has significantly contributed to the improvement of quality of metadata to enhance discoverability of Cultural Heritage online,
3. To demonstrate that the Europeana Network has led to significant cost reduction in the area of creating and distributing digital Cultural Heritage,
4. To demonstrate that Europeana has made a critical change in the distribution of high quality Cultural Heritage online, particularly through networking technologies such as API’s.

Connecting to Creative Industry
Work Group Report
Bridging the Gap to the Creative Industries
Is there a gap?
Yes.Yes.
Challenges
Are we really open? Are we really open? What are the costs? What are the costs? What are the roles? What are the roles?
Solutions
Find collaborations that increase Find collaborations that increase mutual understandingmutual understanding
Share a focus on the end userShare a focus on the end user Reserve some budget (and Reserve some budget (and
attention!) for projectsattention!) for projects
And also remember:
Creative Industries have short Creative Industries have short cycles – don’t be afraid to cycles – don’t be afraid to experimentexperiment

And finally ...
Be Bold.Be Bold.
Two challenges for the Europeana
ecosystem
1) Making metadata richer 2) Getting more users of that
metadata (and the related content)
Europeana Cloud aims to address these challenges

Testing and building a shared infrastructure
- Europeana Cloud
These three aggregators are piloting the Europeana Cloud system
The European Library – 120m items of bibliographic records,
20m metadata items *
Polish Digital Library Federation – 1.5m metadata
items
Europeana – 30m metadata items
* - metadata items refer to metadata records that points to a digitised object

But that is not all!
We will also investigate how we can build end-user services on top of this infrastructure

Governance: How will eCLoud be run

VP’S
Which gain and pain will your expect by working with this network?
Which value propositions do you expect during the years 2015-2020?
Five recommendations on how you can bring your network to the
Europeana Network in a most cost effective way;
1. TO BE AN EVANGELIST
2. SET UP A MARKET PLACE THAT FACILITATES DEMAND AND SUPPLY
3. DESIGN A BUSINESS MODEL THAT FITS EUROPEANA AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS - BENEFITS
4. SHOW EVIDENCE OF END-USER USAGE
5. POSITION EUROPEANA NETWORK
AS BEING A NETWORK OF NETWORKS
