1 October 2007: TOI applies to become UNWTO Affiliate Member
17-18 October 2007: Board members meet with strategic partners in New York (USTOA; UNICEF; UN Global Compact; Programme Coordination, Major Groups and Partnerships Branch and Small Island Developing States Unit - Division for Sustainable Development; UN Fund for International Partnerships)

– USTOA - Presentation of the TOI to USTOA members (beginning of 2008)
– UNICEF - Evaluation of UNICEF projects in 5-6 countries to identify possible areas of cooperation. Information on the TOI was sent to the UNICEF office in Geneva (in contact with the National Committees)
– UN Global Compact - Possible areas of cooperation: Human Rights Initiative; Policy Dialogue; GC Tourism Alliance
– Programme Coordination, Major Groups and Partnerships Branch (Division for SD) - Participation in Partnerships Fair; show case on the CSD web-site; tourism included in the Thematic Cluster 2012-2013
– Small Island Developing States Unit (Division for SD) - Participation in a Conference on Climate Change, proposed by the Japanese private sector
– UNFIP - Support to set up international partnerships (biodiversity conservation and supply chain management) and possible engagement in strategic planning and policy dialogue
