Lanark County Striking Committee Attn: Leslie Drynan, CMO County Clerk/ Deputy CAO 99 Christie Lake Road Perth, ON K7H 3C6

Dear Leslie,

I am writing to express interest in serving on the board of the Lanark County Housing Corporation. I have an interest in the cause of providing affordable housing. I’ve just moved to Almonte a month ago so I can’t offer knowledge of Lanark County but I may have some experience and skills of interest to your committee.

I hold a Bachelor of Math and an MBA. My business background includes 40+ years of varied consulting and management experience. I’ve included my curriculum vitae if you are interested in details.

My community involvement has been varied. I previously resided in Waterloo Region which includes the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge and 4 townships.

My direct involvement with the regional level of government was through the Win-Win Affordable Housing Project which I chaired. The Region encouraged community groups to apply for grants of up to $15,000 towards creating affordable housing units. Our Steering Committee looked at the feasibility of having homeowners renovate a portion of their home to provide an affordable housing unit. The committee included the members from planning or building departments from the 3 cities; key members of community groups serving the disadvantaged; and a representative from CMHC.

Other municipal involvement includes work on Committee of Adjustment, Arts/ Culture Advisory Committee, User Charges & Fees Committee, and the Waterloo Minor Soccer Board, which was overseen by the Waterloo Recreation & Leisure Committee.

Community groups I’ve volunteered with are Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Project Lift, (charity which provided transportation for the disabled; now part of Grand River Transit); Greater K-W Chamber of College; Conestoga College; and various duplicate bridge groups.

Best regards,

Alison Burkett

Wayne Drummond 296 Gardiner Shore Rd Carleton Place, ON K7C 0C4 613-229-0968 Letter of interest for the LCHC Board of Directors

I was raised in Carleton Place, studied at the Ontario Police College, which sparked a thirty-year career in policing. I retired as an Inspector for the Carleton Place Police. My desire to serve the community continued with my participation and leadership with the OWFC, to which he has devoted 40 years, seventeen of which have been as Deputy Chief.

I serve on the Boards of Elizabeth Court Non-Profit Housing in Carleton Place. I am a member of ONPHA and have taken some of their education sessions. The past nine years sit on the board of trustees for the Carleton Place Memorial Hospital involved with the redevelopment of a new emergency department and on the new Mississippi River Health Alliance for the Carleton Place and Almonte Hospitals. I am also a member of the Carleton Place Police Services Board for several years. I with my wife organize Carleton Place Christmas Basket/Angel Tree Program and with volunteers supply a Christmas Basket and gifts to children 16 years and under. This year 2016 we fortunately could give out 310 baskets that will give over a 1000 people including 400 kids a happier Christmas.

I am married, with three married children, and enjoying 6 grandchildren and continues to have rental properties in the town of Carleton Place.

I would very much like to be on the board of Lanark County Housing Corp. as I have gained interest with my involvement on the board of Elizabeth Court and as a member of a committee examining ways of getting new affordable housing in Carleton Place.

JAN. 26, 2017 LCHC Board of Directors 52 Abbott St. N, Unit 4 Smith Falls, ON K7A 1W3 Dear Members of the Board: Please accept my expression of interest re: serving on the LCHC Board of Directors. I have for many years had an abiding interest in the value and necessity for social and supportive housing, in order to ensure those who cannot afford market rents have the opportunity to be adequately and safely housed. I feel my work background supports the aforementioned belief. I worked from 1987 - 1997 as a Construction Maintenance Inspector for the Eastern Regional Office of the MMAH. In that capacity I was the Ministry inspector on many new construction developments, provided yearly operational maintenance audits OHC units and as well helped existing local housing authorities with maintenance issues and the provision of specifications and inspections for retrofits of all kinds. Unfortunately the provincial government of the day disbanded the inspection unit province wide in 1997. I then, with a partner founded Proshelter Inc. to provide same services, as well as full property administration to the social housing and private rental sectors in Eastern Ontario. In the late fall of 1998 I was offered and accepted the position of Executive Director of the Inuit NP Housing Corporation headquartered in Ottawa. I managed a diverse portfolio located in 6 hamlets in Nunavut, NWT, and in Ottawa which contains the largest expatriate community of Inuit outside of the far North. Along with day to day management of the portfolio I was instrumental in developing a number of group homes and acted as resource to several related Boards and policy groups. I retired in the fall of 2015. As well, from 1998 - 2014 I served as a part time Property Standards Inspector in Eastern Ontario for the Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Thanking you in advance for your consideration, Michael J Komendat 7 Perthmore St., Perth, ON K7H 3P1 613 291 4783 [email protected]
