The 2012 Executive Leadership Development Program presented by the AGC Construction Education Foundation in partnership with Pepperdine University is a intensive, construction specific training program designed for contractors, by contractors. Taught by highly qualified industry leaders, this three day train-ing program utilizes a group-interactive format complete with real world examples and exercises.
The Executive Leadership Development Program produces tangible, learning outcomes such as:
Participants will complete this course having gained the tools necessary to achieve effective leadership success in the construction industry; including a personalized leadership development plan and a new sense confidence in their leadership skill set.

INSTRUCTORS
Charles W. Cook, Ph.D.
R.S. Cook and Associates, Inc.
Tracing family history in construction over two and a half centuries, Charles W. Cook has successfully combined a career furthering
the family construction business with an avocation in communications, media and teaching. In 2005, Charlie was elected to the
Consulting Constructors Council of America, limited to 95 members nationwide. An active member of the Construction Education
Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America, Charlie is currently serving as chairman of the continuing Education
Subcommittee. He also serves as Education Committee chairman of the Philadelphia Builders’ Chapter and on the chapter’s Board
of Directors. Charlie is a past president of the Carpenters’ Company, the oldest extant trade guild in America. The Carpenters’
Company build Carpenters’ Hall, site of the first Continental Congress and several other historic events in our nation’s early history.
Charlie credits in communication and media include publications in scholastic journals and award winning stage, video, and multi
media productions, including a recent nomination for an Emmy Award for cultural achievement. He has presented leadership, time
management, communication, team building and motivation seminars for several corporations and AGC chapters and served as a
medial consultant for Philadelphia area political campaigns. He received his B.A. cum laude, from Cornell University, his Masters
from Temple and his PhD from New York University. He also serves as a Member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel
of Arbitrators.
Thomas J. Burleson
Burleson Construction Company , Inc.
Tom Burleson is president of Burleson Construction Company, a third-generation, 64-year old firm in Johnson City, Tennessee. An
AGC activist, Tom is a past chairman of the Construction Education Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America.
He is also a Life Director of AGC of America, a past president of AGC Tennessee, and a member of the Consulting Constructors
Council and a director of the AGC of American Education and Research Foundation. Tom is retired from the US Army Reserves
with the rank of colonel and served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Desert Storm. Tom earned a B.S. degree in
Building Science from Clemson University and received Certified Professional Constructor (C.P.C) status from the AIC Constructor
Certification Committee. He is a LEED Accredited Professional.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Hotel accommodations will also be provided at the Villa Graziado Executive Center.
Unless otherwise notified AGC Staff will arrange for participants to check in on
Tuesday, April 3rd and out on Friday, April 6th. All participants will have a standard , non-smoking room with a King sized bed.
TRANSPORTATION
Participants are responsible for making their own travel and ground transportation arrangements to and from Pepperdine
University.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations or transfer requests received before March 5, 2012 will be entitled to a
full refund. Cancellations or transfer requests received after March 5, 2012 will qualify for a 50% refund of tuition. Please
note, no refunds will be granted for cancellations received after March 30, 2012.
