The build up of dead skin cells can cause skin to appear
dull and lifeless. We want to bring some energy back into
your skin by exfoliating and regenerating new cells! When
it comes to African American men’s skincare routines,
many ignore their skin’s needs and stick with hotel-like
soap bars to cleanse their face and bodies. But these soaps
can be drying and sometimes leave residue behind
clogging pores and doing more harm than good. We’ll go
into the proper method for cleansing and exfoliating to
make sure your manly skin is still touchable and soft.
Soap Options
As mentioned in our previous exfoliation
article, Clear Essence Cosmetics provides
multiple soaps with ingredients such as
salicylic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, and sulfur
to cleanse the skin and remove dirt, oil and
bacteria. Due to the vast selection it can
certainly be up to preference on which soap
bar you find most cleansing and moisturizing
for your skin. A favorite due to its powerful
exfoliating ingredient, alpha hydroxyl acid, is
Clear Essence Complexion Soap with AHA.
AHA is a lactic acid that sloughs off dead skin
cells and exposes a radiant and even
complexion.
More abrasive measures
If you are finding yourself covered in flaky,
dried, dead skin, soap alone may not be
your only escape to smooth skin. Other
objects such as loofas, pumice stones,
abrasive sponges, and exfoliating gloves all
assist in further exfoliation. You may also be
experiencing build up of dead skin cells on
other parts of your body besides your face.
Body Exfoliation
For the back and chest, use a loofa with
a long handle for reach. Don’t be afraid
to be a little tough on the back. Many
suffer from blemishes due to the sweat
and oil produced in this area. A great
liquid body wash to invigorate the skin
is the Chimere Triple Action Body Wash
Forumla. A loofa will help scrub off
residue after a long day and work your
body cleanser further into the skin. For
arms and legs an exfoliating glove can
help reach tough areas. They are also
less abrasive than a loofa for these
normally exposed body parts.
For dry cracked feet, rub a pumice stone
from heal to toe while in the shower. Your
skin will be softened from the steam and
the stone should remove any flaky skin.
When you’ve finishing showering and
now that you’ve deep cleansed the skin
to remove any residue or build up,
perhaps run some bath water and add
Clear Essence Specialist Oil to moisturize
and seal in hydration. Add this routine to
your African American men’s skincare
regimen at least once a month and you
will have touchable skin in no time!
