FASHION STYLES…
Since the 1960s(Black Arts Moment) traditional African clothing has been popular amongst African-American.
Most African-American women are known to wear vibrant dresses and suit.
African American clothing is basically the same style most Americans today are wearing.

…HAIR STYLE
Most African American’s hair composed of tightly coiled curls.
The most common style for women involve straightening the hair through application of heat or chemical processes.
While on the other hand, the most common hair style for men is to leave one’s hair natural.
SOUL FOOD…
Because most African American couldn’t afford good ingredients back in the days, they used inexpensive ingredients to make delicious dishes, these traditional dishes is called Soul Food.
Many of these food traditions are especially common in many parts of the rural South.
Today many researchers considered Soul Food unhealthy, and because of that many African American started to replace traditional ingredients with healthier ones.

yams, collard greens,
cornbread, and
macaroni and cheese.
…MUSIC
African American music is hip-hop, R&B, rap, jazz, and blues.
The current most popular genre of music for African American is R&B, Hip-hop, and Rap.
As of today, African American music has been far more widespread and accepted in American popular music than ever before.

African American art is influenced by various cultural traditions of countries such as Africa, Europe, and Americas.
Between 1600s and early 1800s many arts were in the form of small drums, quilts, wrought-iron figures and ceramic vessels in Southern U.S.
African American arts has largely contributed to the arts of the U.S. today.
HOLIDAYS~~~
Many of the holidays that African Americans celebrate are also celebrated by Americans today.
Emancipation Day, or more commonly known as Juneteenth, is a holiday where many African Americans celebrate the day of recognition of the official reading of the Emancipation Proclamation
Another well known holiday in the African American community but not widely observed outside is Kwanzaa in which African Americans honored their African heritage by lighting a kinara each day for a week.
EDUCATION~
More African American women attend and complete college than men
In 1998 a survey showed 89 percent of African Americans age 25 to 29 had completed high school, less than whites or Asians, but more than Hispanics
Even though their education increased greatly, they still lagged overall in education attainment compared to White or Asian Americans.
CAREERS
They are in every professions we have today from athletes to doctors, CEOs to scientists, ect.
As of 2003 African American owned businesses accounted for 1.2 million of the U.S.’s 23 million businesses.
