By providing a market for their beautiful products, AfriBeads give the women the opportunity to care for their own families. Many millions of people live in extreme poverty in Africa, struggling to survive and look after their children. AfriBeads are individually made from strips of recycled paper cut into triangles and rolled into beads, then varnished, before being made into unique and gorgeous jewellery. The Bead MakersAfribeads are made by a group of 70 women in Kampala, Uganda called the Kind Mother’s Project. This group is working to protect vulnerable children, these children are either orphans or have parents who can’t afford to send their children to school.

Manly millions of people live in extreme poverty in Africa, struggling to survive and look after their children. AfriBeads creates hope for Ugandan women and children by providing a market for the beautiful jewellery they make.

How the Beads are madeAfribeads are a totally recycled product made of paper from old magazines. The beads are individually made from strips of this paper cut into triangles. The paper is rolled from the end of the triangle to the tip, and glued to keep in place. They are strung onto wire and then varnished. The finished beads are then arranged with tiny glass beads and created into unique and gorgeous jewellery. As each piece is hand made by the beader, each one is completely individual. For enquiries please call Afribeads on 0414 807 908 or email [email protected] or if you would like to check us out go to www.afribeads.com.au or follow us on www.facebook.com/afribeads.com.au
