This is an occasion for the citizens of the country to recognize and pay tribute to our gallant soldiers for their supreme sacrifices. It is also a befitting occasion to express our gratitude to the valiant combatants by way of generous contributions towards "The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund". This year also "The Armed Forces Flag Day" will be observed throughout the country on 7th December, 2018 and our Islands will also be observing the same. To mark this day, stickers and token flags are distributed through Rajya Sainik Board, Port Blair in return for generous voluntary donations and support for "The Armed Force Flag Day Fund". The additional incentives include 30% extra Viability Gap Funding for the flights under Regional Connectivity Scheme. Further, the Administration Affordable Air Connectivity in Inter-Island Sector Administration to provide additional incentives to airline operators under RCS-UDAN Proposed fare to be less than existing fare of helicopter services Port Blair, Dec.6 Master D. The Flag Day is intended to honour the valiant and dead, to salute the veterans and brave and to enhance the Observance of Armed Forces Flag Day today traditional bonds that exist between citizens of the country and the Armed Forces. This day is observed to enlist the public co-operation and support for three basic purposes viz rehabilitation of families of battle casualties, welfare of serving personnel and their families and re-settlement and welfare of ex- Servicemen and their families, in general. After finalization of the bidding process, the proposed fare under the RCS-UDAN Scheme will be less than the existing fare of the helicopter services and will be equal for both Islanders and non-Islanders.
