ACTION AGAINST HUNGER

Founder● Action against Hunger was founded in 1979 by a group of French intellectuals in

response to the emergency in Afghanistan. These included Françoise Giroud, Bernard Henri Lévy, Marek Halter, Alfred Kastler (a Nobel Laureate in physics), Guy Sorman, Jacques Attali, and several other doctors, journalists and writers.

INTRODUCTION OF THE SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS

● Action Against Hunger’s first chairman was Alfred Kastler. He was born in Guebwiller (Alsace, German Empire) and later attended the Lycée Bartholdi in Colmar, Alsace, and École Normale Supérieure in Paris in 1921. After his studies, in 1926 he began teaching physics at the Lycée of Mulhouse, and then taught at the University of Bordeaux, where he was a university professor until 1941. Georges Bruhat asked him to come back to the École Normale Supérieure, where he finally obtained a chair in 1952.

to carry out innovative, lifesaving programmes in nutrition, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene.

● Action Against Hunger has provided people in need of assistance with nutrition and health, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and livelihood.

● .Action Against Hunger responds to humanitarian emergencies all over the world, delivering immediate life-saving services to populations in distress.

IMPACT OF THE VENTURE

IMPACT●Action Against Hunger is a humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. Every day they work to save the lives of malnourished children while providing families with sustainable access to safe water and good nutrition.●With over 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster and chronic food insecurity, they’ve helped over 14.9 million people in 47 countries in 2015. 

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT● Overall, my group feels that what Action Against Hunger does is

very important and that we can learn from them as they are doing the right thing. Action Against Hunger helps those that are in need of basic services like clean water, they give hope to those in need.
