3.2.2.1.4. Neighbor Optimization

The Neighbor Optimization feature provides an easy solution to verify the neighbor plan and find both missing neighbors and unutilized existing neighbors based on the GPEH or CHR or Megamon recording. Using the Neighbor Optimization feature, users will obtain the optimal neighbor definition with priorities analyzed from live network data. The list of neighbors in WCDMA network is presented in a tabular form in Workbench and on map view such as MapInfo, Google Earth or Bing Maps. An accurate neighbor plan is crucial for network performance in WCDMA network. If there are too many defined neighbors in a network, there will be a greater risk that the most important neighbors are not being measured due to time constraints. On the other hand, if a neighbor is not defined (missing) and is too strong, the system will drop the call. This makes optimizing the neighbor plan one of the most important tasks for a WCDMA optimization engineer. Xeus Pro users can use the Neighbor Optimization tool to perform one of the following:-

Missing neighbor - Xeus Pro allows the users to perform analysis of the reported missing neighbors

for possible further action. This powerful feature for WCDMA networks is based on ‘real’ customer

behavior and not on test equipment.

Page 29: Aexio Xeus Pro Product Description

Re-rank the neighbor with new priority setting –Neighbor Optimization allows the user to reset the

ranking of the neighbors based on its category and ranking type in Xeus.

Remove neighbor – Users can delete an existing mutual neighbor relation if the neighbor relation is

no longer required or necessary.

Issue a Change Request – A change request is created after analyzing and deciding which neighbor

relations need to be created, removed, or modified.

3.2.3.2.1. Pilot Pollution Analysis

The Pilot Pollution Analysis presents an overview of what the interference looks like in a network. It leads the user to the cells that cause the biggest interference in the network or the cell that is most interfered in the network.

Xeus Pro GPEH or CHR or Megamon presents this information to users both in a graphical map view and in a spreadsheet form for easy analysis. The data can be sorted according to the worst polluters or those cells experiencing the most pollution. Analysis results will be presented in spreadsheet form at the Workbench. This will give the optimization engineer very important information when improving the performance of the WCDMA network. Figure 20 shows the Pilot Pollution Analysis Chart in GPEH.

[Figure 20: GPEH Pilot Pollution Chart]

Xeus Pro uses specific WCDMA events to detect a possible pilot pollution situation. These events are part of a

UE’s signaling with the RBS, collected from GPEH or CHR or Megamon and then parsed for it to be viewed in the tool. This means, the information used to determine a cell’s pilot pollution is based on recorded live traffic.

The "Load Details" button located at the right side of the page allows you to load the list of all the cells with the highest percentage of over coverage calls. List of the cells will be presented in spreadsheet form at the Workbench.

[Figure 22: Coverage Analysis]

3.2.2.1.8. Smartphone Analysis

The Smartphone Analysis feature provides a unique window into the performance of Smartphone in

a 3G network. This feature is only available for Ericsson GPEH (General Performance Event Handling). Users can perform PS Signalling Analysis to detect Fast Dormancy Event, RRC State Transition for the PS Channel Event, Call End due to Fast Dormancy, and Phone Level PS Statistics.
