ADVICE PRIOR TO TOOTH EXTRACTION OR MINOR SURGICAL PROCEDURE

You are scheduled to have a minor surgical procedure in the dental surgery, for example, an extraction of the tooth. We aim to make this procedure as comfortable and stress free as possible. Prior to the procedure we would like to make you aware of the following points:

• If you are on any drugs, such as warfarin, please ensure your INR is taken the morning of the procedure.

• DO eat before your appointment as otherwise you may feel faint. • If you are at all concerned please bring an escort with you. However, unless you

have been informed otherwise you are generally fit to drive home. • All children under the age of sixteen must be escorted by a parent or guardian. • You may have some pain and swelling afterwards. However, this should respond

to painkillers such as paracetamol (not aspirin). If you cannot take paracetamol for any reason please discuss alternative pain medication with your dentist.
