advert draft

Existing Print Advertisements Before beginning the draft of my magazine advertisement, I decided to look further in detail at existing adverts for similar artists to my own in addition to my previous research. I chose four female solo artists who arguably fit into the same genre as my artist as I realised the conventions of their adverts should be similar to mine. The first thing immediately striking about these is that the picture of the artist dominates the entire page. This corresponds with the star image notion, one that I aimed to achieve overall. Their name also rules over the image, making a very clear link between the image of the artist and their name. These are all promotional adverts for an album release. The title of said album is also dominant in the image: this keeps it clear that the point of producing the advert is to promote an album. The artist and album name stand out as their font styles are bold and the colours have been carefully chosen: white is generally used as it stands out against almost every colour. Ellie Goulding’s advert uses gold because it too is bold and links to the theme and title of her album – Lights. Advertisements generally use quotes from a prestigious publication like a newspaper or music magazine selling the praise of the album. This leads people to want to listen to the album if it’s rated as a good one. They also tell us the platforms of availability, website information, release dates, and sometimes label information. All of these will help me in producing my advert as I’ll have an idea of what to include on my edit to make it successful.

Existing Print Advertisements

Before beginning the draft of my magazine advertisement, I decided to look further in detail at existing adverts for similar artists to my own in addition to my previous research.
