4D THEATER
Sea Monsters 4DJourney back 82 million years into
prehistoric waters, home to some of the most fascinating creatures
that ever lived on Earth. In Sea Monsters 4D, your students will
follow a family of Dolichorhynchops, also known as “Dollies,” as
they migrate through ancient seas populated with saber-toothed
fish, prehistoric sharks, giant squid and the monstrous Tylosaurus,
a predator with no enemies. This animated National Geographic
film is recommended for 1st through 4th grade.
Great White Shark 4DExplore the mysteries of one
of the ocean’s most misunderstood inhabitants. In
Great White Shark 4D, your students will discover the
strength and beauty of this iconic apex predator on
the verge of extinction. Travel around the world on a
breathtaking encounter with the predator we love to
fear. This live-action film is recommended for 1st
grade and up.
Travel back to the Mesozoic Era and introduce your
students to the most remarkable marine reptiles that once
dominated the seas. Along with dinosaurs, their terrestrial
counterparts, they were large in size and numbers.
Dinosaurs of the Deep features a variety of realistic models
and skeletons of the most intriguing sea monsters that ever
lived, from prehistoric armored fish to the whales,
sharks and turtles that inhabit our oceans today.
Your students will come face-to-face with one of
the mightiest marine reptiles of all time, the
Liopleurodon. They will also meet living
creatures that have inhabited planet Earth for
millions of years, including the mysterious giant
isopod, the elegant chambered nautilus and the
magnificent giant octopus.
The river comes alive in this new and vibrant
experience. Hippo Haven will immerse your
students into an African river landscape full of
colorful sights and sounds. Then students
will get up close and eye-to-eye with Genny
and Button, the stars of Hippo Haven. Live
presentations feature animal feedings,
training sessions and the inside scoop on
hippo care and enrichment.

Special Needs
Special needs appropriate classes can be tailored to meet theinterests of your learning support or integrated classroom. Allclasses are taught in a minimally distracting classroom. Classesmove at a pace appropriate to students’ curiosity, and attempt toaccommodate multiple learning styles.
I AM A SEASTARThis class uses imitation to encourage movement,vocalization, and creative thought. Students will beintroduced to various marine animals, such as sea turtles,horseshoe crabs, and sea stars, and invited to engage theirimaginations by imitating their movements and sounds. Thisclass does involve live animals, some of whom students will beinvited to touch.
TERRIFIC TURTLES What is the difference between a turtle and a tortoise? Howfast is a sea turtle? Can a Snapping Turtle take off her shell?Students will meet a few of our Turtles in Residence, and havethe opportunity to touch some turtle related biofacts. Thisclass uses live animals, with no direct animal contact.
Auditorium ProgramsTheater-style setting, ideal for large groups, half-hour session.

Rivers of the WorldWater is our most precious resource, essential to all life onEarth. Your students will discover the importance of riversto us and the animals that live in and around them. Herethey will meet some amazing Amazon River fish, includingpacu, catfish, and the colossal arapaima. They will also findseveral river reptiles such as the diamondback terrapin andthe Orinoco crocodile. Finally students will learn what theycan do to protect our waterways.
Ocean Today KioskAdventure Aquarium and the Center for Aquatic Sciencesare members of the nationalCoastal America Partnership,dedicated to restoring and preserving coastal ecosystems.Get the latest on the conservation efforts of the CoastalAmerica partners by stopping at the Ocean Today Kiosk,located across from the Amazon River waterfall.
Shipwrecked!Your students will discover hundreds of fish andinvertebrates in a series of underwater habitats. This is agreat location for exploring adaptations and observingbehaviors. You will find seahorses hiding in a grassbed,angelfish swimming on a reef, moray eels lurking in ashipwreck and spiny lobsters peeking from rocky crevices.
Ocean RealmThis deep ocean habitat will have your students marvelingat these amazing animals including several species of sharksand rays, two species of sea turtles and an array of fishspecies. Adventure Aquarium is the only place in the UnitedStates to see the Great Hammerhead shark on display.Ocean Realm is the exhibit to introduce your students to anumber of concepts, including classification, habitats,adaptations, behavior, and conservation. Touch-A-SharkIntroduce your students to the wonderful world of sharks inthis hands-on interactive exhibit. Several small species ofshark can be touched and observed. Have your students usetheir math skills at the shark scale, where they can comparetheir weight with the weights of various sharks.
Stingray Beach ClubHere is the perfect opportunity for your students toget up close and personal with four amazing speciesof stingrays. Younger students will enjoy comparingthe feel, size, shape and color of these gracefulanimals, while older students can explorelocomotion, behavior, anatomy and what they can doto protect them. Penguin IslandA visit to Penguin Island will shake up your students’perception of both classification and geographicalrange. The endangered African black-footed penguinis an aquatic bird that lives in a temperate climate.Check out the underwater viewing window whereyour students can observe the unique adaptationsthat make them ideally suited for living in water.
4D TheaterAdventure Aquarium’s 4D Theater, presented byPSE&G, is a one-of-a-kind movie experience thatcombines the high-definition drama of a 3-D filmwith special sensory effects. The 15 - 20 minute films are specially selected to offer your students an immersive experience that’s exciting and educational.

KidZoneOur KidZone exhibit is full of interactive activitiesand fun characters younger children will enjoy.For older students, this exhibit offers an amazingarray of fish species, including clownfish, lionfish,cuttlefish, pipefish and flashlight fish. This isanother great location for students to exploreadaptations, classification and behavior. Addengineering and technology education here witha look at biomimicry, or how fish adaptations areused to solve human problems.
Gill’s GrottoGill’s Grotto, located inside KidZone, includesthree touch exhibits where your students willexamine a variety of invertebrates found inwarm-water coral reefs. Species include Atlantichorseshoe crab, American lobster, scarlet cleanershrimp, and the violet sea apple.
Creature FeatureLocated adjacent to the Amazon River waterfall,Creature Feature is our intertidal marineecosystem, showcasing animals from the rockyshores of the Pacific Northwest. Your studentswill have the opportunity to investigate a varietyof cold-water species including sea stars, snails,anemones and sea cucumbers. Have yourstudents compare the species found in CreatureFeature with those found in Gill’s Grotto.
Hippo HavenA river landscape comes alive as your students explore thehabitat and adaptations of the Nile hippo. They will discoverhow the hippo and other species are built to survive therugged African savanna. Then students will get eye-to-eyewith Genny and Button, the stars of Hippo Haven. Livepresentations will feature hippo feedings and the insidescoop on hippo care and enrichment.

Over 20 sandbar, nurse and sand tiger sharks –some more than 10 feet long – cruise along in the exhibit. Asyour students enter our suspended 40-foot Shark Tunnel,they will be immersed in the beauty of these majesticpredators. This is the perfect opportunity to examine theiranatomy, explore the many myths about sharks, appreciatetheir place in the food chain as an apex predator and realizethe impact humans are having on their survival.
