Urban Forestry is the specialized branch of professional forestry that has, as its objective, the cultivation and management of vegetation for their present and potential contribution to the physiological, sociological and economic well being of urban society. Inherent in this function is a comprehensive program to educate the urban populace of the role of vegetation with various strata and form in the related environment. In its broadest sense, urban forestry embraces a multi-managerial system that includes municipal watersheds, wildlife habitats, outdoor recreation opportunities, landscape architecture, recycling of municipal waste arboricultural maintenance and storm water management (Moeller, 1977), erosion prevention in all areas and corridors present inside town lines and the system as a whole outside those lines impacted by the urban centre (Society of American Foresters, 1974).
