Customer Profile

What began with a young nickel man in 1946 has turned into the story of a very successful family owned and operated business. This Cinderella story belongs to Carl I. Wenger and his family.

Carl began his business career in 1946 at the age of fourteen. He would serve as the nickel man at local auctions. Carl would purchase power tools and carpenter supplies that needed repairs; he would then take them to his family general store in Rexmont, Pennsylvania to repair and resell them.

In 1950, Carl married Margaret Buffenmeyer of Cornwall, Pennsylvania. The couple moved to the family owned farm in nearby Myerstown. Once in Myerstown, the couple began dairy

farming and in 1952 Carl began buying and selling used farm tractors and equipment. In 1958, thebusiness consumed a majority of Carl’s time; the dairy operation was reduced and Wengers Farm Machinery was incorporated.

Under Carl’s leadership, the company experienced continued growth. In 1970, the management of the company was turned over to the eldest son, Lloyd. Lloyd served diligently as CEO and in 1988 Lloyd relinquished the leadership to his youngest brother Glenn. Glenn continues to serve as the CEO of the family owned and operated business.

Wengers Farm Machinery continued to grow in the early 1990’s. They acquired an interest in a full service Kubota dealership, Reading Kubota - Bobcat and a full service New Holland dealership, Ag-Industrial, Inc. Along with the two dealership interests, Wengers Farm Machinery established a leasing company, Champion Leasing.

In April 1996, Wengers Farm Machinery finished a large building expansion project. At this time the company’s name was changed to Wengers of Myerstown; the company is lead by Glenn Wenger, his six brothers and sisters as well as several spouses and some members of the third generation. The brothers and sisters include: Lloyd Wenger, Larry Wenger, Nancy Layser, Carol Dieffenbach, David Wenger, Glenn Wenger, and Rose Walmer.

Wengers of Myerstown employs approximately 60 loyal and highly qualified people and includes various, diverse departments highlighted below.

The Ag Equipment Sales department offers quality used farmtractors, implements, attachments and short-line items to meet the tilling, planting and harvesting needs of our customers

The Farm Tractor Parts department sells new aftermarket and used tractor parts. Wengers of Myerstown purchases over 300 salvage parts tractors each year to ensure its inventory is the broadest in the industry. Our website offers click and purchase options for our customers as well as a well trained staff to answer the customer’s telephone call.

The Construction Equipment Sales department offers a wide variety of construction equipment, including excavators, backhoes, crawler loaders and dozers, rubber tire loaders, skid steer loaders, compaction and paving equipment plus much more.

The Construction Parts department sells used industrial parts. Used parts are available for most makes and models of backhoes, crawlers-loaders and dozers, rubber tired loaders, excavators, and log skidders. New aftermarket parts are also available for hard to find, high-wear items.

The Machining Services department is a full service machine shop; providing services including reconditioning heads and crankshafts, flywheel resurfacing, as well as honing and boring cylinder blocks. The staff at the machine shop has decades of experience in machining for the agricultural, industrial, automotive and high-performance industries.

The Trailer Sales department has new and used trailers that include luxurious living quarter trailers to 20 ton equipment haulers, as well as anything in between. They are authorized dealers for Keiferbuilt, Hudson Bros., and Pequea trailers.

The Motorcycle Sales department offers a large selection of good, clean used motorcycles and high quality riding clothes and accessories. They have a very loyal customer base and organize several “rides” each year.

Wenger Farms began in 1950 and has been in the registered "American British White Park" cattle business since 1995. American British White Park has been traced back to as early as the year 80 A.D. Among this herd are several National and Reserve Champions. The Wenger Foundation, Inc., was founded in 1996 to support religious, educational and community service programs. The foundation is supported through corporate contributions from Wengers of Myerstown, as well as, individual contributions and fund solicitations for special events. The most notable event of The Foundation is the annual Praise Dinner. This event, started in 1996, has raised in excess of $902,000.00 for the benefit of local Christian ministries.

Wengers of Myerstown has surely grown from its humble beginnings with a nickel man in an auction field. The company has expanded into many different areas and continues to consider its diversity of

operations a huge asset in today’s marketplace.
