American Chemical Society- Scholars Program The American Chemical Society sponsors a scholarship program designed to encourage Hispanic, African-American, and American Indian students to pursue undergraduate college degrees in the chemical sciences and chemical technology. The goal of the scholarship program is to aid in building an awareness of the value and rewards associated with careers in science and to assist students in for success in these areas. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need to high school seniors planning a science preparatory program of study, and college students who are currently freshmen, sophomores, or juniors who are committed to the study of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or other chemically related fields such as environmental science, materials science, or toxicology and are interested in pursuing careers in one of these fields. Students interested in two-year chemical technology programs and careers in this field are also eligible. Students must have strong academic records and show an interest in, and potential for, careers in the chemical sciences. The amount of each individual award depends upon the availability of funding, the number of scholarships awarded, and evidence of financial need. HP Scholars A scholarship opportunity for students interested in computer engineering, computer science, or electrica

Program Description

The HP Scholar Award is a highly selective scholarship opportunity for students interested in CE, CS, or EE. The total value of the four-year cash scholarship, HP Scholar Productivity Package and the three paid internships may exceed $40,000 per student. Scholarship awards are $12,000 ($3000 per year for four years) and are intended to help defray educational expenses. Upon acceptance into the program, each HP Scholar receives a Productivity Package which includes an HP laptop, printer, and PDA. The most valuable part of the HP Scholar experience is the internship opportunity. HP Scholars may be eligible for assistance in obtaining three paid summer internships with HP at one of our US locations during the course of their undergraduate work.

The HP Scholar program offers scholarship opportunities to underrepresented minority (African American, Latino, or American Indian) students who will pursue a bachelor of science degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering at an HP Scholar partnership university (UCLA, University of Washington, San Jose State, Morgan State, or North Carolina A&T). High school seniors and community college transfer students that are preparing to attend one of the partnership universities are invited to apply for this scholarship prior to enrollment at the university.

Berdakin Family Latino/a Emerging Leader Scholarship

The Berdakin Family Foundation was started by Dr. Daniel Berdakin and his wife Susanna Berdakin to help enrich the lives of children through the support of educational programs and financial aid assistance for students. The Foundation was established in December 2005. It is registered in California as 501.3(C) and as such retains tax exempt status. Though the initial endowment consists entirely of monies donated by the Berdakin family, the family accepts charitable donations to add to its already sizeable endowments.

The Latino Emerging Leaders Scholarship is awarded to help provide one deserving Latino Freshman with the financial resources needed to attend Northwestern University. Eligible applicants should reflect active involvement in the Latino community, including community service activities and plan to continue his/her contribution to the Latino community in the future.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Inc.

This premier scholarship opportunity is afforded to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue contributing in the future. There is no GPA or major requirement. Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply.

Recipients will receive

• Scholarships of $2,500 to attend a four-year or graduate-level academic institution; or Scholarships of $1,000 to attend a two-year community college.

CHCI will disburse scholarship monies directly to recipients. The Western Union Foundation's Family Scholarship Program is a new initiative for migrants, immigrants and their families. The Family Scholarship Program is intended to help two members of the same family move up the economic development ladder through education. Scholarships may be used for tuition for college/university education language acquisition classes, technical/skill training, and/or financial literacy. For example, one family member may request assistance to attend college and the other family member may request assistance to attend English as a Second Language (ESL) course.

Scholarship awards Recipients are eligible to receive scholarships in amounts of $1,000-$5,000 per family. (For example, one scholarship recipient may receive $1,500 for an ESL course and the other recipient $3,500 for tuition at a university).

Eligibility - All applicants must be age 18 or older. - Country of origin for at least one of the applicants must be outside the United States. - Application must include educational providers for primary and secondary award recipients (must be 2 family members). - Scholarships may be used for tuition for college/university education language acquisition classes, technical/skill training, and/or financial literacy.

Criteria The following criteria will be used to review applications: - Families that have overcome barriers to pursue their educational goals - Families that are involved in their communities - Personal educational goals - Plans to attain goals - Plans for utilizing the scholarship
