Course Description:This educational activity has been designed for Chief Residents and Fellows representing Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery who have a desire to gain advanced knowledge and skills in treatment planning and surgical techniques. This advanced course has a heavy practicum emphasis with multiple cadaver workshops where surgical approaches and the finer points of procedures will be offered. The well-known faculty will present advanced concepts in anatomy, surgical approaches, reconstruction and fixation options. Topics include: surgical approaches to the cranio-orbital, midface, mandibular, and skull base regions; head and neck surgery for cancer; and advanced reconstruction. At the conclusion of this course, the participant should have an advanced understanding of the craniomaxillofacial surgical procedures covered.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the resident/fellow should be able to:1. Discuss the anatomy, biomechanics and surgical approaches of the craniomaxillofacial region.2. State the principles of rigid internal fixation and fixation options for maxillo-mandibular fixation. 3. Discuss various advanced aspects of CMF surgery. 4. Critique controversies in head and neck reconstruction and fixation techniques. 5. Demonstrate proficiency in a cadaver workshop for reconstructive surgery, orbital explorations and

fixation, midface osteotomies, cutaneous flap harvests and osteocutaneous flap harvests and other procedures.

Course Credit:A certificate of completion will be awarded to each attendee upon the completion of the course. CME credit will not be awarded.

Grant Policy and Procedure:The purpose of this policy is to provide instructions to Chief Residents and Fellows who are interested in attending the course entitled: Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Surgery: Mastery of Treatment Planning and Technique, February 24-25, 2012 at the Miami Anatomical Research Center (MARC).

The Educational Grant will cover the following:1. Tuition for the course.2. Lodging for up to 3 nights, room & tax only. Two

residents/fellows assigned per room. 3. Roundtrip airfare (nonrefundable coach) or reimburse-

ment for mileage, tolls and parking. 4. Meals and refreshment breaks at the MARC during

the course and a group dinner on Friday evening at a predetermined restaurant. All other meals are your own responsibility.

5. Bus transportation will be provided the days of the course to and from the MARC.The shuttle will depart from the designated hotel only, the Intercontinental at Doral Miami.

No other form of transportation will be reimbursed.

The Educational Grant will NOT cover the following:1. Incidental expenses at the hotel. A credit card will be

required at hotel check-in. 2. Transportation to and from the Miami airport and hotel.3. Meals, food and beverage expenses not listed in the grant

above.

Course Registration Procedure:1. Complete the Resident/Fellow registration form included

in this brochure. The Program Director must sign the registration form prior to submitting it to Pfiedler Enterprises. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

2. Limit one Chief Resident/Fellow per program.3. Residents/Fellows will be accepted on a first come,

first served basis. In an effort to offer a multidisciplinary approach, only 25 participants can be accepted (9PRS, 8 OTO-HNS and 8 OMFS).

Registration opens on December 9, 2011 at 2 pm ET based on Greenwich Mean Time. Note: Any early or incomplete submissions will be discarded.

4. You will be notified via email when your registration has been received. Once you are accepted a letter of confirmation will be forwarded. Please allow two business days for confirmation.

5. Remember only 25 residents will be accommodated for this course. Once the course is full, you will be waitlisted.

6. A formal letter will provide details about arranging air travel and hotel. Please do not arrange travel or lodging on your own, since you will not be reimbursed. Complete the registration form included in this brochure and return to Pfiedler Enterprises.

7. If you have to cancel, once you have been confirmed, please contact Pfiedler Enterprises at 720-748-6144. This will assist others on the waitlist.

8. Please do not plan to bring a spouse/guest, since we cannot accommodate these individuals at the hotel, course or hospitality events in compliance with the AdvaMed Code of Ethics.
