Ring Testing

The CERJAC 156MTS can beinserted in a SONET ring in apass-thru mode to add Section,Line and Path errors and alarms toverify proper ring operation underfailure and degraded conditions.

Data Communication Channel

(DCC) Testing

The CERJAC 156MTS can dropand insert either the SONETSection (192 kb/s) or Line(576 kb/s) DCC to an externalprotocol analyzer to monitor andgenerate management informa-tion. To maintain proper SONETlink operation, the DCC can be“passed thru” the test set, whileperforming BERT or drop andinsert test functions.

The CERJAC 156MTS STS-12cATMtesting option enables user tostress the newest ATM switchesand services that carry ATM trafficat 622Mbps. A standard suite ofcell BERT patterns with AAL0mappings is available to stress testATM at rates up to 100%bandwidth on a user selectableVPI, VCI, PT, CLP and GFC.

ATM Error and Alarm Testing

In addition to the SONET errorand alarm testing capability, theCERJAC 156MTS STS-12c/ATMtesting option also enables usersto generate and monitor ATMerrors and alarms to verify theperformance of high speed ATMswitches. The CERJAC 156MTS’sATM test capability includesSCNR, LOP, HCS bit, HCS byteand pattern error monitoring andgeneration.

The CERJAC 156MTS AdvancedATM testing option enables usersto stress ATM switches with STS-3c, STS-1, DS3, E1 and DS1 ATMpayloads. The flexible multiplex-ing capability of the CERJAC156MTS enables the user to fullytest ATM payloads with higherrate signals. Examples includetesting STS-3c carried within anOC-12/3c mapped signal, or a DS3-ATM payload carried within anOC-12/DS3 mapped signal or aDS1-ATM payload carried withinOC-3/VT1.5 mapped signal.

Multiple Cell Streams

The CERJAC 156MTS AdvancedATM testing option enables theuser to load an ATM switch withone foreground and up to fourbackground CBR or VBR cellstreams. The foreground channelcan be configured as AAL0, AAL1or test cell with a cross cell BERTor fixed pattern for QoS measure-ment. The background channelscan be configured as AAL3/4,AAL5 or idle cell streams withfixed patterns.

DS3 BERT Testing

The CERJAC 156MTS DS3 testingoption enables users to performfull bandwidth BERT testing onunframed, M13 and C-Bit framedDS3’s. BPV, Frame, Data and Data/parity error generation andmonitoring is provided tocompletely test the DS3. Two testsets are used to simultaneouslyverify the circuits end-to-endwithout loopback.

DS3 FEAC

The CERJAC 156MTS DS3 testingoption also enables the user tomonitor and generate DS3 FarEnd Alarm and Control (FEAC)codes. Activating and deactivatingDS3 and DS1 loopbacks orsending status and alarm codescan be inserted continuously or inbursts.

Pass Thru Testing

DS1 and E1 BERT Testing

The CERJAC 156MTS DS1 and E1options enable the user to performfull bandwidth BERT testing onESF, D4, and SLC96 (TS0,TS0+CRC, TS0/16 and TS0/16+CRC for E1) framed andunframed circuits provisioned forAMI or B8ZS (HDB3 for E1).Standard PRBS, QRSS, 55 octet,fixed and user programmablepatterns are provided. Two testsets are used to simultaneouslyverify the circuits end-to-endwithout loopback.

Fractional T1/E1 and

DS0 Testing

The CERJAC 156MTS DS1 or E1options enable testing of frac-tional T1 and E1 services. From 1to 23 (30 or 31 for E1) contiguousor non-contiguous DS0’s can betested. DS0 tone generation andDS0 frequency and level measure-ments are provided to test V/Fservices. Pass-thru capabilityenables testing to be performedon a selected DS0 while theremaining 23 DS0’s (29 or 30 DS0’sfor E1) channels are passedthrough.

The CERJAC 156MTS DS3 pulsemask measurement capabilityenables the user to compare thereceived DS3 signal to ANSIT1.102, ANSI T1.404, BellcoreTR499 and CCITT G.703 pulsetemplates. Logging Software

The E6348A Remote EventLogging automatically collectsdata in the background while atest is in progress. Test data canbe displayed in either “elapsedtime” or “time of day” format.Multiple error and alarm/statusscreens can be opened to time-correlate occurrences. The zoomfunction allows the user to “zoom-in” and focus on particular event,or “zoom-out” for the “bigpicture.”

Mask Graphical Software

The DS3 Pulse Mask companionsoftware enables users tographically compare data that hasbeen collected by the 156MTSequipped with option 202 (DS3pulse mask measurement).Graphical versions of the ANSIT1.102, ANSI T1.404, BellcoreTR499 or CCITT G.703 pulse masktemplates are available. Data canbe plotted, stored, printed andcompared to previously collectdata.

The CERJAC 156MTS can beequipped with interchangeablefront-panel optical connectors toenable users to rapidly changebetween FC/PC, ST, SC, D4-PCand other standard optical con-nectors. The interchangeablefront-panel connector adapterscan be rapidly removed for quickand easy cleaning of the optics.
