Through the years Liebherr has been satisfying the requirements of the world’s largest surface mines by supplying reliable hydraulic mining excavators and diesel electric mining trucks. Liebherr took the first innovative step by introducing the T 282, a 360 short ton payload AC drive mining truck to capture the top place in large electric drive trucks. While the first T 282 to roll off the assembly line in 1998 routinely hauls material in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, the T 282 B, an up-graded version of the original model is establishing records of reliable performance worldwide. Not content to rest on the success of the T 282 B for large scale surface mining, Liebherr recently introduced another new model of diesel electric mining truck.

The TI 274, is a prototype 320 short ton, AC drive mining truck, which is now undergoing field proving. It incorporates a design “mind shift” combining innovative ideas, the latest technology and proven engineering principals. The design concept focuses on hauling more material with less redundant structure to provide a higher return on the equipment investment.

Liebherr Litronic hydraulic mining excavators manufactured in Colmar, France are distributed and serviced in North America through Liebherr Mining Equipment Co. , and have operating weights from 500,000 lbs to 1,473,000 lbs. Throughout the world these reliable mining excavators dig their way through overburden, soft and hard rock with high efficiency. Large Liebherr barge mounted excavators are also being utilized to efficiently excavate and deepen US waterways, operating against backdrops of some well-known city skylines, from coast to coast.
