VirtualizationSoftware defined networkATMGMPLSOptical NetworksClient Layer Conclusion
VirtualizationCreates logical, virtual networks that are decoupled
from the underlying network hardware
Ensures that the network can better integrate with and support increasingly virtual environments
With virtualization, companies can take advantage of the efficiencies and agility of software-based compute and storage resources
Virtualization Elements
Virtualization Example
• Slotted system : Better scalability in distance-bandwidth
• Allows any-speed and even variable rate connection
• ATM : Short fixed size 53-byte cells
• Seamless : Same technology for LAN, MAN, WAN
• No longer designing distributed control protocols
• Much easier to write, verify, maintain
• Examples : Ethane: network-wide access-control
• Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) integrates a label-based forwarding mechanism with the IP routing and control
• The original MPLS framework consists of a data plane for packet forwarding and a control planeAllows any-speed and even variable rate connection
• GMPLS enables a unified control plane that can be applied to a wide range of network equipment with different transport capabilities
• Optical fiber Networks have high capacity
• Can be used for providing the high bandwidth services
• Synchronous Optical Network (SONET)
• Synchronous Digital Hierachy (SDH)
Example of Optical Networks : Real time view
CONCLUSION
Hence we have discuss Advance networking technologies.
