I love the Christmas season. For

the most part, people seem more

cheerful and courteous. I like to

decorate for Christmas. A couple

of years ago, a friend of mine, after

helping get all the Christmas deco-

rations out of storage, said “I have

never seen anyone with so many

decorations! Is there any room in

the house that you do not deco-

rate?” Well, no, there isn’t! I love

to transform my home into a

Christmas wonderland.

Now-a-days, physically I can’t do as

much, but I still enjoy decorating

the main rooms of the house. Un-

packing decorations that my broth-

ers and I made when we were chil-

dren, those that my daughter made

growing up, gifts of decorations

from friends and those passed

down from my grandparents. They

each have a story to tell.

This year has special significance

because I have the joy of sharing

Christmas with my first grandchild!

Last year, after Christmas, in antici-

pation of Morgan’s birth, I bought a

cute Veggie Tales Nativity set. It’s

unbreakable and colorful and will

give me an opportunity to talk to

her about what Christmas is truly

about.

However, there is another Nativity

set that is put in a place of honor

every year. It is one that was

passed down from my paternal

grandmother, Morgan’s great-great

grandmother. Until she is older she

will not be able to touch it, it is

very fragile and I want to preserve

it as long as possible. But I will

share the story with her every year

as we look at it together.

Nativity scenes do not tell the

whole story of the gift God gave to

us through the birth of a child in

Bethlehem. We must not leave

Jesus in a stable. If we don’t recog-

nize the entire identity of the

Christ-child, we cannot fully under-

stand just how great God’s gift of

His Son was for humanity.

Our culture loves the idea of Jesus

as a sweet baby wrapped in cloth

surrounded by a myriad of onlook-

ers. Yet many intentionally reject

His true identity as the Son of God,

God in human flesh, and the Savior

of the world.

Our Winter Quarter study in Adult

2 is titled “God’s Greatest Gift”.

We must realize that His gift didn’t

begin with the birth of Jesus. It

began in time eternal and will con-

tinue for eternity. When Jesus

became flesh, He was fulfilling the

promise Isaiah spoke of in chapter

53, the One we see woven

throughout the pages of the Old

Testament, the promised Messiah

who would “take away the sins of

God’s Greatest Gift

Blessed to be a blessing!

What a joy to be able to share with others what God has blessed us

with. Our Boxes of Blessings Thanksgiving project was a resounding

success and we appreciate so much all of you who contributed food or

money.

We want to have a part in Christmas Blessings also and we have two

projects we need your help with.

One of our area nursing homes, Park Plaza is need of 75 bottles of

good body lotion (i.e. Vaseline Intensive Care, etc.) for the residents

there. They are provided with the “cheap” lotion furnished by hospital

supply, but the employees tell us they really need the “good” stuff! We

know how dry it has been here in the Concho Valley and how that ef-

fects your body.

We have some money left from our Boxes of Blessings Project and

would like to collect more to be able to furnish Christmas food and

perhaps even gifts for a family who is experiencing tough times.

For more information about how you can help with one or both of

these projects, please join us for Adult 2 Life Connection Group on Sun-

day mornings at 9:30AM or contact Brenda Morris at 325-949-6962 or

Kathy Kellar at the church office or her home 325-944-9178.
