Is an innovative pro-poor government program that gives private institutions and individuals the opportunity to become partners in education by providing assistance in the upgrading and modernization of public and public schools.
What is Adopt-A-School Program?
BRIGADA ESKWELAIs logical extension of the stated objectives of the RA 8525 also known as the Adopt-A-School Program.
This law was sponsored by Rep. Anne Marie Periquet at the House of Representative.
Late Senator Marcelo Fernan wrote the senator version of BE.
Former Education Secretary Edilberto de Jesus successfully pushed the promulgation of Implementing Rules and Regulations from the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
RA 8525 establish the ASP which allows private entities to assist public schools, whether elementary, secondary or tertiary.Brigada Eskwela was launched in 2003 when ASP to invite local residents to help fix up the public schools in their area to generate community support.
This was evolved from a week-long cleaning-up and beautification exercise to a festive coming together of students, teachers, school officials, parents, community members, local government officials, non-government organizations, church groups and the private sector
