    PERSONAL ESSAY

I am a Bachelor of Science in Psychology graduate and recently obtained my masters degree

in Guidance and Counseling. At present, I am an instructor in a State University where I handle social

sciences subjects, to wit, general psychology, group dynamics, philosophy, sociology and political

science. I am teaching in the University for four years now. It is my earnest desire to further my studies

to enhance my knowledge and hone my skills in the field of psychology, hence, my plan to pursue the

doctorate program, specifically in Social/Organizational Psychology. The pursuit of a higher degree in

my chosen career would pave the way towards my personal and professional development.

Social/Organizational psychology deals with the importance of examining and understanding

organizational issues. Social/organizational psychologists are oftentimes involved in research work on

organizational behavior and contribute to an organizations success by improving the performance and

well-being of its people. This field offers a wide range of opportunities for the application of ones

interest and expertise. It is in this premise that I choose to go into Social/Organizational Psychology in

the Doctorate Program. I am very much interested in understanding the intricate patterns of human

motivation in the workplace. I have the desire to conduct research in order to contribute to the

profession of organizational development. I choose this program because of its focus on group

dynamics, leadership and organizational communication. It has been my desire to become more

involved in organizational communication and training. I have a strong academic abilities,

commitment and motivation to pursue a doctorate degree. I am diligent, hardworking and have

leadership potentials, have good human relations, sensitivity and perseverance that would help me in

my chosen doctorate program. I know how to administer and interpret individual assessments. As a

hardworking, highly motivated and persistent individual, I am determined to use my knowledge and

skills, strengths and passion in the field of psychology, helping others to succeed. I was trained to work

where I enjoyed working directly with different clients specifically those with marital problems, child

adoption, neuro-psychological tests for teachers and overseas Filipino Workers. I have experienced

also to work in-campus to ASSIST IN THE SELECTION OF STUDENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE UNIVERSITY AS WELL AS

THE ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT , STUDENT APTITUDE , AND THE PERFORMANCE OF TEACHERS . My intense

interest in Social/Organizational psychology goes back to my first job after college. I was then a

Human Resource Personnel specifically, Recruitment and Training Officer at Supervalue Inc. SM

Baguio City. It was then I have learned to design recruitment processes and personnel selection

systems and conducted training for those newly hired employees in the company. As a HR-

Recruitment, my job is not only for recruiting or for screening an applicant but also I was engaged in

time keeping, in giving disciplinary actions to those employees and staff with disciplinary problems

and in preparing employees pay roll. At present, I am continuously conducting seminars and

workshops in the University where I work with. These seminars and workshops, which include

Leadership and Teambuilding seminar-workshops, Responsible Young Adulthood Seminar and

Personality Development and Character Building Workshop, are for students and faculty members.

It was then the beginning of my desire to have my own private practice to render psychological

services in the community and larger societies. Thus, I feel that I have much to contribute to the

society should I be graduated in the Ph.D program in Social/Organizational Psychology at Ateneo De

Manila University because of my passion to work with people, to conduct researches on organizational

issues. I am very motivated and determined to succeed as a Social/Organizational psychologist: Ateneo

De Manila University is the premier University in the country in the field of psychology. Much could

be learned from its portals as I set to pursue excellence in this field of endeavor.

Moreover, I believe that I am well-prepared to embark on this new endeavor at this time in my

life when I can make my most significant contribution to the field and to the lives of others. I look

forward with a renewed sense of excitement, commitment and dedication with much gut to pursue

    Social/Organizational Psychology as my career.
