Guide for Students with Physical Disabilities
Chukyo University cares for students with physical disabilities who need special attention and support dur-
ing the entrance examination and studies at our University. In order to grasp the special needs of those students
and accommodate them with our best support, we may have to interview the students in person.
The interview will be conducted to better understand the student’s needs, therefore, this interview will not
in any way affect our judgement on the entrance examination results and acceptance. If you would like to request
our special assistance on the examination day, please contact our Admissions Office at your earliest convenience,
possibly 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the application period, to consult (non-binding) for any assistance we
may be able to extend.

■ Eligibility for Application
You must meet all of the following requirements to submit the application:
❖ You have a nationality other than Japanese.
❖ You have either completed 12 years of primary and secondary levels of educations in your resident country
or any equivalent education which is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology (MEXT) or completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program granted by the IB
Organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
❖ You have a Level B2 (English only) or higher in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages) standard or equivalent. Refer to “CEFR English Proficiency Levelling Systems” on page 2 for
details.
❖ You are fully capable of supporting yourself financially from the time of enrollment through graduation,
including payments of educational and living expenses.
❖ You have a Student visa at the time of admission, or you have Dependent (Family stays) or Long-term resident,
Spouse or child of Japanese national, Spouse of permanent resident visa or permission of permanent residence at
the time of application.
❖ If you are applying for the Second Term Examination, you must have Student or Dependent (Family stays),
Long-term resident, Spouse or child of Japanese national, Spouse of permanent resident visa or permission of
permanent residence at the time of application.

・Please make a reservation from the following QR code during the above reservation period. We will send a
reservation confirmation email to those who have completed the reservation.
・Prior interview will be held online. Please check the date and time (JST) stated in the reservation confirmation
email.
・At the designated time and date, please click the URL in the reservation confirmation email, and you can join
the interview.
・You may have an English interview with a professor of GLS Major for about 10 minutes.
・We are using a web conference service "Zoom" for the Prior Interview.

4. Applying for the Entrance Examination
● All applications must be made on-line.
1) Go to the GLS Major Website in Chukyo University Net Campus.
Enter all necessary information based on the application form including your name, date of birth, residence
address, and the reason for application.
2) Reference Number and Instruction
When registration is completed, a Reference Number and Instructions for Examination will be provided on
the screen, along with the list of documents you are required to prepare. As the instructions, please reply to
the image (photo) of the required documents for checking your information in advance. Also you need to
bring the original of them on the examination day again.
Please keep the screen shot or copy of the completion screen. The Examination Card will be given to you on the
examination day in exchange for presenting them.
3) Payment of Application Fee
Thoroughly read and understand the payment methods on page 4. Make sure to pay the application fee of
JPY35,000 no later than the due date of application submission.
4) General Instructions regarding the Examination
Make sure that you have all the necessary documents as listed on page 7 prepared and bring them with you
on the examination day.
Your Examination Card will be given in exchange for presenting a copy of the application completion screen
or the screen shot.
Please note that if you fail to make the payment before the due date or are not carrying all the necessary
documents on the examination day, you will NOT be permitted to take the examination.

5. Application Fee
■ Application Fee is JPY 35,000.
• Bank transfer fee must be paid by the remitter. The application fee once paid is not refundable.
• Bank transfer receipt of the remittance application is considered as the official receipt issued by the
University. Please retain the copy for the future reference.
• Application fee must be paid within the period of Application Submission.

The name of the remitter must be the name of the applicant him/herself. The Reference Number
must appear in front of the applicant’s name on the remittance application form.
For example, if your Reference Number is 3 and the name of the applicant is James Chukyo, then the name
of the remitter should appear on the form as “3 James CHUKYO”.
2) Bank transfer fee must be paid by the remitter.
3) Please retain the copy of remittance and bring it with you on the examination day.

(2) When Remitting from outside Japan
1) All payments must be made in Japanese yen. Please transfer the Application Fee of JPY35,000 in ac-
cordance with the procedures stated below and make sure that the payment reaches the bank account of
Chukyo University before the due date.

2) The name of the remitter must be the name of the applicant him/herself. The Reference Number

Notes when remitting from overseas
(1) Make sure to state PAY IN FULL* in the message to payee section when filling the application form
so that the accurate net amount of the Application Fee will be deposited to the bank account of Chukyo
University.
*Bank transfer charge to be paid by remitter.
(2) All other bank charges, including inward remittance charge or lifting charge which may incur when
transferring payment from an overseas bank, must also be paid by the remitter.

6. General Instructions regarding the Examination
■ Things to Bring on the Examination Day
Note: Make sure to bring all of following documents and items on the examination day.
If any of the required documents and items are missing, you will not be permitted to take the examination.

Transcript
❖ School diploma and transcript as specified in eligibility requirements.
(The documents must be originals or authentications notarized by your country’s legal notary
service office) ◆ Only original documents are accepted. We copy them in our office for our records and return to you on the examination
day.
❖ Applicants who have completed the Special “Senshu Katei” Course offered in universities, 2-year
colleges, vocational schools, and other educational institutions must present their diploma and
transcripts as well.
All diplomas and transcripts in languages other than Japanese or English must be provided with a
Japanese or English translation prepared by a public institution.
Copy of Achievement
Certificate of CEFR
Document to prove that you have a Level B2 or higher in the CEFR standard (ex. score report).
◆ If you do not have any qualifications, please take the prior interview. You can prove your English proficiency instead of CEFR
B2. Please see page 2 about the details.

Residence Card Only required if you have.
Your ID Photo A photo must show your frontal image from chest-up. Do not wear a hat. The photo must be taken
in the last 3 months. Size: 4 cm × 3 cm. Print on the backside of the photo your name, Reference
Number, your major, and the School you wish to be enrolled. The photo may be taken in a photo
booth. If you will be wearing glasses during the exam, the photo must show you wearing the
glasses.
Stationery and writing
materials
Use black HB or No. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils. Erasers (a vinyl or plastic eraser is recom-
mended for clean and complete erasing)
Note: You are not permitted to use rulers, compass, dictionaries, and pencil boards (shitajiki) in the
examination room.
Note: It is your responsibility to prepare and bring your own writing materials for the examination.
The University will not be blamed for your lack of any stationery required on the examination day.
Watch There will be no clock in the examination room. You may wear a wristwatch in the examination
room. The watch must be a simple watch; no smartphone, cell phone, smart or hybrid watches are
allowed. (No stopwatches, timers, or desktop clocks are allowed, either.)
Lunch meal On-campus cafeteria services will not be available on the examination day. Please bring a lunch
pack. And no littering after lunch – please take back what you brought in.
• You will NOT be permitted to take the examination if you did not pay the Application Fee by the due date, or
any of your documents required herein is missing on the examination day.
• You will be disqualified if, after examination, you are found to not meet the eligibility requirements.
• An Examination Card will be given to you on the examination day in exchange for presenting the copy of the
application completion screen. Use the Examinee Number printed on the Examination Card when taking the
examination or inquiring for your examination result.

■ Things to note when sitting the entrance examination
1. There will be no dress code in the Examination Venue on the examination day.
2. You have to be seated at the designated desk that has your examinee number on it at least 30 minutes before
the examination starts. You will be allowed to enter the examination room up to 20 minutes after the exami-
nation has started, but you will not be given extra time. In case of delay because of public transportation, you
need to obtain a delay certificate from the station office and submit it to the University.
Those who arrive after 20 minutes have passed since the start of the examination is not permitted to sit the
examination.
If you cannot reach the examination venue before the end of the examination of the subject because of the
delay in public transportation, you will not be permitted to take the examination. In such a case, the
application fee may be refunded.
3. Place your Examination Card on your desk visible to the invigilators.
4. You must follow all of the instructions given by the invigilators in the examination room. Failure to
comply with their instructions will be an act of improper behavior, and you will be disqualified from the
examination.
5. If you cause disturbances or annoyance to other examinees in the examination venue, it will be an act of
improper behavior and, you will be disqualified from the examination.
6. Make sure that all your mobile phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices are turned off before
beginning the examination and must be kept in your bag. Keeping an electronic device on the desk, or on
your person, will be an act of improper behavior, and you will be disqualified from the examination.
7. Impersonating an examinee is an act of improper behavior and will you will be disqualified from the
examination.
8. If you leave your name and/or Examinee Number blank or write a wrong examinee number, your examina-
tion will be invalid.
9. You are not allowed to leave the room before the designated finishing time unless you have compelling
reasons.
10. If you have injury or illness and require special support, please contact the admissions office. Also, on the day
of the examination, if the university determines that there is a suspicion of an infectious disease (influenza,
measles, chickenpox, rubella, etc.), please refrain from taking the examination. However, this does not apply if
the doctor finds that there is no risk of infection due to symptoms. In addition, please understand that we will
follow the guidelines based on the WHO and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
11. If an earthquake, natural disaster such as typhoon, fire, power failure, or other accident due to force majeure
occurs, the examination schedule may be changed or the examination may be postponed. Please check the
official website of Chukyo University carefully to obtain this information.

7. Access to the Examination Venue
■ Directions to the Examination Room (9:00 Open)
❖ You will know your examination room by signs, bulletin boards, printed handouts, and staff member
guidance.
◆ You will not be permitted to enter or view the examination rooms prior to the examination date.
❖ Make sure to be in the allocated seat in the designated examination room no later than 30 min before the
examination is due to start. Smoking is prohibited in the examination room.
❖ Pay great attentions not to be late for the examination. Consider the weather forecast of the examination day
and its influence on the public transportation.
❖ Please do not drive to the Examination Venue. There is no parking space available for examinees.

8. Announcement of Examination Results
❖ Since the Announcement Date of Examination Result, you can know the result using the "pass/fail information
system" using smartphones/PCs.
❖ An express mail (or an EMS for an overseas address) is sent on the day of the Announcement Date of
Examination Results to the successful applicants. It contains the notification of acceptance and application
documents for enrollment. You will receive the mail on the following day of the Announcement Date of
Examination Results at the earliest.
❖ Notification will not be sent to those who did not pass the examination.
❖ Applicants can know the results only by "Pass/Fail Information System" and receiving the notification of
acceptance.

envelope as the notification of acceptance.
