A delegation of PSAK led by its Chairman, G.N Var met BOSE Chairperson Veena Pandita and Director Academic of BOSE, Farooq Ahmad Peer, wherein both the sides discussed range of issues confronting the edu- cation sector. The association raised the issue of private school stu- dents being made non-eligi- ble for Post and Pre-Matric government scholarships to which Director Academics said that the a revised noti- fication will be published soon and all students irre- spective of their schools will be made eligible. "The scholarship is right of every student and gov- ernment cannot deny any student this right just because he is studying in a private school," said Var. "Thankfully the officials have agreed and now all private school students will be eligible for scholarships too," Var asserted. The two sides also dis- cussed the current school curriculum, which is not enough to meet national and global needs. "The board officials agreed to update the entire curriculum in tune with latest standards and while doing the exercise, private school members will also be taken in confidence. Similar approach will also be taken when other vital decisions are taken," said Var. The BOSE chairperson also told the PSAK delega- tion that BOSE is mulling to organise a major confer- ence wherein all stakehold- ers, academicians and experts will be invited and major issues confronting the education sector will be discussed. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Deputy Commissioner, TariqAhmed Zargar along with Executive OfficerMunicipal Council, Executive Engineer ofPHE and other officials of concerneddepartments on Thursday visited Eidgah,Poonch to review the arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha Prayers.

DC took stock of basic facilities being pro-vided by the concerned department withregard to sanitation, uninterrupted waterand power facilities and other civil works ofcleanliness in and around the Eidgah.

During the visit, Deputy Commissionerissued on spot directions to the concernedofficers as well as to the field staff forensuring proper sanitation in and aroundEidgah and Jamia Masjids where Eidprayers will be held . He also called forcleanliness of lanes and bye lanes leading to

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Privateschool students will soonbecome eligible for variousgovernment scholarships asgovernment has agreed tomake its scholarships avail-able to every student irre-spective of where he reads,a delegation of PrivateSchools Association ofKashmir (PSAK) wasinformed after their inter-action with JK Board ofSchool Education (BOSE)officials.

A delegation of PSAK ledby its Chairman, G.N Varmet BOSE ChairpersonVeena Pandita andDirector Academic ofBOSE, Farooq AhmadPeer, wherein both thesides discussed range ofissues confronting the edu-cation sector.

The association raised theissue of private school stu-dents being made non-eligi-ble for Post and Pre-Matricgovernment scholarships towhich Director Academicssaid that the a revised noti-fication will be publishedsoon and all students irre-spective of their schoolswill be made eligible.

"The scholarship is rightof every student and gov-ernment cannot deny anystudent this right justbecause he is studying in aprivate school," said Var."Thankfully the officialshave agreed and now allprivate school students willbe eligible for scholarshipstoo," Var asserted.

The two sides also dis-cussed the current schoolcurriculum, which is notenough to meet nationaland global needs.

"The board officialsagreed to update the entirecurriculum in tune withlatest standards and whiledoing the exercise, privateschool members will also betaken in confidence.Similar approach will alsobe taken when other vitaldecisions are taken," saidVar.

The BOSE chairpersonalso told the PSAK delega-tion that BOSE is mullingto organise a major confer-ence wherein all stakehold-ers, academicians andexperts will be invited andmajor issues confrontingthe education sector will bediscussed.
