Only candidates passing out HS/Equivalent Examination in 2013 and 2014 are eligible to apply. b. Candidates should pass in ENGLISH in a 100 Marks Paper. B) Criteria for General Category Applicants intending to take Honours A candidate intending to take up Honours course in a subject must have obtained: i. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate (Calculated by adding the marks in top four subjects in order of marks secured by a student) and 45% in the subject or related subject* (List of Related Subjects) at the previous qualifying examination. OR ii. 55% marks in the subject or related subjects* OR iii. 50% marks in the aggregate, when the subject is not studied. (Students willing to switch over from Science or Commerce to Humanities) iv. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies will not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject Environmental Science is studies as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken in to account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks C) Criteria for SC/ST Category* Applicants intending to take Honours a. Admission to First Year Classes for the Session – 2014-2015 (Honours and General) ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A) FOR ALL STUDENTS INTENDING TO APPLY-

a. Only candidates passing out HS/Equivalent Examination in 2013 and 2014 are eligible

to apply.

b. Candidates should pass in ENGLISH in a 100 Marks Paper.

B) Criteria for General Category Applicants intending to take Honours

A candidate intending to take up Honours course in a subject must have obtained:

i. A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate (Calculated by adding the marks in

top four subjects in order of marks secured by a student) and 45% in the

subject or related subject* (List of Related Subjects) at the previous qualifying

examination.

OR

ii. 55% marks in the subject or related subjects*

OR

iii. 50% marks in the aggregate, when the subject is not studied. (Students

D) Special Conditions for Admission in different Honours Courses :

a. Mathematics (Honours) - Candidates must pass in Mathematics at the previous

qualifying examination. b. Chemistry (Honours) - Candidates must pass in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

at the previous qualifying examination. c. Physics (Honours) - Candidates must pass in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at

the previous qualifying examination. d. Economics (Honours) - Candidates must pass in Mathematics at the previous

qualifying examination. e. Physiology (Honours)- Candidates must pass in Biology/Biotechnology and Chemistry

at the previous qualifying examination. f. Botany (Honours)- Candidates must pass in Biology/Biotechnology and Chemistry at

the previous qualifying examination. g. Zoology (Honours)- Candidates must pass in Biology/Biotechnology and Chemistry at

the previous qualifying examination.

E) Criteria for Admission in General Stream

a. General Category Candidates

i. B.A. (General) – Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in subjects, he/she

intends to study.

ii. B.Com (General) – Pass marks in aggregate and passed the subject(s) at the

previous qualifying examination as mentioned below:

Accountancy / Business Economics including Business Mathematics /

Business Organization / Mathematics / Economics / Statistics /

Commerce / Accounts / Business Studies / Financial Accounting /

Office and Secretarial Practice / Elements of Cost Accountancy and

Auditing / Book Keeping / Business Mathematics / Cost Accountancy &

Principle of Management.

iii. B.Sc. General (Physical Sc.) - Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.

iv. B.Sc. General (Bio Sc.) - Pass marks in aggregate and pass marks in Biology at

the previous qualifying examination.

b. SC/ST Category* Candidates

i. B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com (General) – Pass marks in aggregate.

* SC/ST APPLICANTS FROM OTHER STATES WILL BE CONSIDERED AS GENERAL

CANDIDIATES

ALL ADMISSIONS ARE PROVISIONAL SUBJECT TO SCRUTINY AND APPROVAL

OF THE CALCUTTA UNIVERSITY
