Administrative Office Support Staff Curriculum Guide

Overview: The goal of the Administrative Office Staff Training Series is to gain and apply knowledge, motivate, lead, develop individuals and teams and to explore current leadership, practice, and concepts that provide opportunities for growth. The curriculum uses a variety of learning approaches, including seminars and online, blended or hybrid courses.

The curriculum is divided into two levels. Series I is recommended for employees in support staff positions with limited office experience or who need to hone his/her skills. Series II is designed to help further develop office employees who have mastered all of the Series I coursework and are seeking further advancement at Tarrant County College. Completion of both series helps prepare employees with knowledge, skills, and abilities for employment advancement.

Description: Many peer conflicts are troublesome because they involve personal values, office politics and power, and emotional reactions. Elective Courses Title: BUAX-4003 Leadership TCC Course Type: 20 hours classroom instruction through the TCC Institute. Four-hour sessions for five to six times,

plus presentation. Admission is by application only and space is limited. Offered Spring only.

Description: Leadership TCC is an informative three-month leadership development program consisting of a series of presentations by Chancellor Erma Johnson Hadley and the Chancellor’s Executive Leadership Team (CELT). The leadership topics are about Tarrant County College District operations, challenges, and future directions.

Title: External Learning courses, seminars, and experiential learning

Course Type: Individualized

Description: Course approval may be granted on individual basis by the Office of Human Resources. You may submit for credit a college level undergraduate or graduate management course that parallels your job description or one at a higher level than you current job. The course must have been taken since 2010.
