School Counseling Newsletter

Graduation: Sunday, June 24th

Time: 1:00 PM

Location: Field House

Tickets will be handed out to seniors for

family and friends.

Senior Scholarship and Award Ceremony: June 7th A ceremony is being held to present seniors with Awards & Scholarships. The

school would like to honor seniors in a special forum and acknowledge the people

in our community who sponsor the awards. In addition, the recipients receiving the

awards will be able to personally thank those sponsoring the awards. Those sen-

iors receiving an award will be sent invitations to attend the ceremony on Thursday,

June 7th in the Auditorium beginning at 7 pm with refreshments to follow.

Scholarship Recognition

If your child won an outside scholarship

(for example, college scholarship) and you

would like him/her to be recognized in the

Scholarship packet which is handed out at

the Award Ceremony, please contact Karen

Oas in the School Counseling Office at

728-2214 no later than May 24th.

Regents Exams:

June 13th — June 21st

Last day of classes:

Tuesday, June 12th

Final Transcript Requests for Colleges Mrs. Elliott will send a final transcript to the college you are attending in the fall of 2012 (as stated on Mrs. Fox’s questionnaire). The tran-

script will go out the week after July 4th. Additional transcripts can be sent to other colleges upon request. The forms are located on the

School Counseling Office’s counter top or on the SCO school website. The form should be given to Mrs. Elliott (or put it in her mailbox) and

she will mail the transcript directly to the college. If Mrs. Elliott has questions, she will contact the student for clarification. Please note that

Mrs. Elliott’s hours are 10:00 a.m. — 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Genesee Promise Plus is a special program designed specifically for high school students who are graduating from a high school located in Genesee, Living-

ston, Orleans and Wyoming counties in New York State, including Wayland-Cohocton Central School. Under Genesee Promise Plus, every GLOW area January

or June high school graduate will receive a scholarship covering the cost of tuition for one or two summer 2012 courses beginning on July 2nd offered by

Genesee Community College at any of its seven campus locations in Albion, Arcade, Batavia, Dansville, Lima, Medina, and Warsaw. Go to their website:
