DEPARTMENT: INFANTRY SYSTEMS JOB LEVEL: 6 PURPOSE OF JOB System Engineer responsible for the planning, coordinating and monitoring all development system, design verification and qualification activities of the Command and Control system on the Hoefyster Programme. This position will support the Prime Contacting Office System engineer and work together with the various variant engineers. This is to ensure that the engineering verification artifacts are properly documented, in order to ensure that overall programme milestones are met on all levels of systems being developed. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS - This positions Primary responsibility to manage the verification of the higher level specifications - Close liaison and cooperation with the Verification and Test Engineers and DLS T&E department in establishing viable integrated verification plans. - Review and Approval of Acceptance Test Reports (ATR’s) and Qualification Test Reports (QTR’s) - with support from the DLS T&E department and product system engineers in order to facilitate the population of the VCRM. - Mitigation of non-conformances from the verification cross reference matrices (VCRM’s) - Auditing and formally declaring contracted deliverables ready for delivery to the appropriate project managers. - Assist product system engineers in determining whether all sub-systems to be integrated into L3 or L5 systems have known qualification statuses and are acceptable for integration and commissioning. - Ensure that all test L3 and L5 systems that have sufficiently passed DT&E are formally declared fit for OT&E and released by DLS Business Excellence. - Responsible for proper identification, management and resolution of all integration, commissioning and T&E risks & issues; including management of such on the PRACAS Issue Tracking Register. Weekly reports to be pulled from the Issue Tracking Register and issues managed to the quickest possible resolution. Ensure correct tasking of individuals responsible for actions. - Weekly progress reports and monthly detailed feedback sessions; including briefings on schedule changes and impacts.

- Prepare and Presentation of safety cases to the DLS Safety Review Board prior to testing (in cooperation with the safety system engineer).

- Customer interactions, presentations and reviews; where required.- Actively contributing in creating a culture of System Engineering and Test and Evaluation

excellence in the Infantry Systems engineering team.- Mentoring and coaching of junior engineers.- Apply all applicable DLS policies, procedures and work instructions to the best of your ability

CRITICAL SKILLS

- Some experience with the CHAKA Command and Control System.- System Engineering experience and knowledge & application thereof; with a proven track record.- Technical development and engineering competencies and experience in landward direct and indirect fire

systems (hardware and software) development e.g. artillery, tanks, IFVs, vehicles and turreted systems; with proven track record.

- System integration, commissioning and verification competencies and experience.- Problem solving and ability to make/take decisions.- Risk Analysis and management skills.- Perform System Engineering functions, in accordance with applicable standards, plans and procedures.

Project management skills e.g.: Ability to liaise with people on all levels. Ability to perform within allocated time- scales and budgets. Ability to make/take decisions. Perform Test and Evaluation functions, in accordance with applicable standards, plans and

procedures.People management skills:

Ability to lead technical personnel Ability to liaise with people on all levels Good communication and motivation skills Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with team members.

Computer literate:- MS Office Suite of Applications, PS NEXT, DOORS and other applicable engineering software required to

execute the job e.g. Visio etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS- B Eng (or higher) degree or equivalent technical qualification, with at least 5 years of applicable experiential

background.- Experience in the development of qualification reports and development of verification cross reference

matrices and/or establishment of requirements verification traceability in DOORS (between test and qualification reports and development requirements).

- 10 Years Engineering experience
