MAINTENANCE AIR FILTER The air filter is a foam based element that requires inspection every 3000 miles. Replace the air filter if you notice deterioration or excessive dirt build up.

CAUTION 1. Clean the air filter more frequently if riding in rainy areas and dusty conditions. Do not use the scooter if the air filter becomes wet. 2. If the air filter is not installed properly, dirt and debris can enter the engine

reducing power and causing internal engine damage.

2 STROKE OILWhen the low oil indicator blinks, oil must be added immediately. 1. Open the seat and remove oil tank cover

at bottom of helmet box. (On some models, remove access door under the front of the seat.

MAINTENANCE

REAR WHEEL BRAKE ADJUSTMENT Check that rear brakes enage when using rear brake lever. There should be 1-2 centimeters of free play.

CAUTION

Screw groove must be aligned with lock position after adjustment, any slight deviation may result in braking change and cause an unsafe braking condition.

FRONT / REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS Apply downward pressure on front handlebar and seat to check the function of front and rear absorbers.

Page 33: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 3

MAINTENANCE

BRAKE LIGHT Turn ignition switch to “ON” position. Apply both brake levers separately for front and rear wheels to ensure the brake light is functioning normally.

TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS Turn ignition switch to “ON”, use the turn signal switch to activate both left and right side lights. Verify front and rear turn signals functioning normally.

SPARK PLUG Spark plug fouling and excessive gap can lead to performance issues. Inspect regularly.

Standard electrode gap is .023-.027 inches. The standard spark plug type is NGK C7HSA

or NGK CR7HSA

CAUTION Do not remove spark plug immediately after riding scooter as it will be extremely hot. Allow engine to cool completely before removing spark plug from engine.

Page 34: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 4

MAINTENANCE BATTERY This vehicle is equipped with a maintenance free battery. Visually inspect battery terminals for corrosion and clean as necessary. Remove battery during cleaning.

CAUTION 1. If the vehicle is not to be used for extended periods, remove the negative(-)terminal. 2. Do not smoke or allow flames near the battery while removing and installing it. 3. Always turn off the ignition switch before removal or installation. 4. Remove the Negative(-)terminal first when disconnecting the battery, and install the

Positive(+)terminal first upon reinstallation.

TIRE

Visually inspect tires before driving and check tire pressure. Recommend tire pressure: Front tire pressure: 18 psi Rear tire pressure: 25psi

PROPER DRIVING TECHNIQUE ENGINE START-UP – Using the electric start Check engine oil and gasoline levels before starting the vehicle. 1. Turn ignition switch to “ON”. 2. Verify emergency stop switch is in “ON” position 2. Squeeze brake lever and press the electric start button until the engine turns on. 3. Allow engine to warm up for a few minutes before use.

CAUTION 1. Release the starter button immediately after engine turns on. 2. Do not press the starter button with the engine running as damage will occur.

If the engine does not start after a few seconds of using the electric start, give the throttle grip a slight twist and try again. NOTE:If the vehicle has been sitting for an extended period, the carburetor may need to be drained and cleaned. Contact your local dealer to schedule maintenance.

CAUTION 1. Do not run the starter motor for more than 10 seconds each attempt. Allow 20 seconds between starting attempts to allow for the starter to cool down. 2. If the engine does not start normally, contact your local dealer.

Page 36: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 6

PROPER DRIVING TECHNIQUE ENGINE START-UP - Using the Kick Starter Place vehicle on main kickstand, rotate kick start lever out and kick downward with steady force. Allow the kick start to return to starting position between kicking attempts. Do not open (twist) throttle grip while starting.

CAUTION After the engine has started, make sure to allow the kick start to return to its original position to avoid damage.

BEFORE DRIVING Watch for other vehicles approaching and proceed to drive only when safe. Always use your signals when merging.

ACCELERATING To accelerate the scooter, slowly twist the throttle towards you in a steady manner. The more you twist the throttle, the quicker you will accelerate. Twisting the grip away from you slows the engine speed and allows you to slow down.

.

Page 37: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 7

PROPER DRIVING TECHNIQUE

MAINTENANCE OF VEHICLE PERFORMANCE AND LIFT EXPECTANCY 1. New vehicle should be operated under limited speed enabling engine parts to function

for an initial revolution. 2. A new vehicle should be operating at a speed below 50KM/H within 1000KM. 3. Do not operate in full speed within 2000KM.

SAFE BRAKING TECHNIQUE Apply both front and rear brakes at the same time for smooth and efficient stopping.

**Always ensure the throttle is not being applied during braking**

CAUTION Applying only one brake will increase stopping distance and cause

premature brake pad wear. Always use both brakes when stopping.

Page 38: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 8

PROPER DRIVING TECHNIQUE SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND PARKING

1. The engine will shut off when the ignition is turned to “OFF” position.

CAUTION 1. DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO “OFF” WHILE DRIVING 2. ONLY TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO “OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE

IS COMPLETELY STOPPED.

2. After getting off the vehicle, pick a level ground spot to place vehicle on main

kickstand. Avoid unlevel ground to prevent vehicle from tipping over.

3. Park the scooter by holding steering handle with your left hand and by holding the

rear frame with your right hand. Use the main stand pedal with your right foot while

pulling back and up by with hands.

4. Lock the steering handle to deter theft.

Page 39: ADLY Owners Manual - Web Final

3 9

TROUBLE SHOOTING

If the scooter fails to start, or the engine is unable to stay running, a quick diagnosis may reveal the cause. Check the list below for some common fixes. * Confirm the ignition is in the “ON” position. * Confirm the engine kill switch is in correct position. Refer to page 20 for proper position. * If the electric start is not working, attempt to kick start the vehicle on the main kick stand. If the vehicle has been sitting for an extended time, this may take multiple attempts. * Remove gas cap and visually inspect for fuel in tank. * Inspect the spark plug for fouling and contamination. Replace spark plug if necessary.

TAMPERING

Federal law prohibits any modification to the exhaust system which causes the

motorcycle to exceed the federal noise standard. Use of the vehicle with such a modified

exhaust system is prohibited.

Acts likely to constitute tampering include removal or puncturing the muffler, baffles,

header pipe, or any other component, relating to the exhaust system.
