Introduction

Soundarya Lahari, meaning waves of beauty, consists of two parts viz Ananda Lahari,meaning waves of happiness !first "# stanzas$ and Soundarya Lahari !the ne%t & stanzas$It is be(ieved that Lord )anesha himse(f has etched the Ananda Lahari on *ount *eru!Some peop(e be(ieve that Sage +ushpa hantha did the etching$It was read from there bySage )ouda +ada who taught it to Adhi Sankara Adhi Sankara himse(f added the rest of the& stanzas and comp(eted it
