  2. 2. IntroductionFor ADDS a design isnt something that falls out of a book or even a design already built elsewhere it is about using the space available to match the way you live. How the space should be used is for us the best method of designing a home. We typically see customers who know what they want, and we do all we can to provide just that with a few suggestions along the way. We also see customers who have an idea what they would like, but are open to suggestions. Either way we ask for an initial brief in either a descriptive form or a simple line sketch of what size you believe each room should be. We listen to your requirements and provide you with what you requested for discussion at a design review meeting. Whichever type of customer you are it is rare that a design is final at this time and we will offer ideas and suggestions aimed to improve the flow of a property, gain more light, benefit from views or simply start looking for exciting features both inside and out that make the design match the owner. At the same time as doing all of this we are always mindful to comply with local planning policies and guidelines and consult the Planning Officers where needed to help ensure that we meet with full approval. It is not sufficient to just update your house. It should be improved to satisfy not just the needs of today but also the needs of the future. DESIGN & BUILD SERVICE We have been involved in the building industry for a number of years now and have worked with a number of different builders and contractors, we can advise you of reputable builders and we will help you through the process.   3. 3. Our approach FROM START TO FINISH, WERE WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. Initially, we meet to determine your needs, goals, and budget; to develop a plan thats geared entirely to you and your requirements. Its your home and were here to make the process easier, and more enjoyable. A project should be something to get excited about, whether a custom home, renovation or addition. We then provide you with preliminary concepts and designs for approval before proceeding to your construction plans. We work to your pace and your comfort level. We want you to feel that you are in control. Next, we assist with the Planning Permission application and work on your behalf with the Local Authority to obtain Planning Approval. We track the progress and liaise with the Planning Officer on your behalf. Finally, we work with your contractor during construction. We are not just selling building plans, but an entire planning service. Our business is to add comfort and to enhance the way you live in your home.   4. 4. STEP SIX Our work does not end with the drawings. As part of our service we can recommend reputable builders who we have used reliably in the past and we know we can trust. We will help you through the sometimes difficult tendering stage and set up a project start-up meeting to run through the finer details with your chosen builder. Finally we will make regular visits while the work is being carried out to ensure everything is running smoothly. STEP ONE Just call us and we will set up an initial free consultation. We will meet with you at your home to develop a brief, understand your needs, your budget and the property site. We will then be able to advise you on the most appropriate and feasible way to meet this brief in relation to cost, planning and construction. We will then send you a written quotation outlining our fees and any other costs involved. STEP TWO We undertake a full measurement and photographic survey of the existing building and land, including site investigation to determine positions and locations of drains and services. STEP THREE With all the information gathered, we will draw up our initial proposals. We would normally present a few alternatives in line with the brief which will help you to understand our ideas and allow us to refine the proposals with your input. STEP FOUR Once you are satisfied that the design meets your requirements we will prepare the approval drawings and submit the necessary applications and supporting information on your behalf. We monitor the progress and liaise with the Local Authority to ensure any problems that may arise are dealt with, amending drawings if necessary. Step Five Following the Planning Approvals, we will develop the proposals further. We will provide a full working drawing with technical specifications, detailed sections and foundation plans showing the precise construction to meet the latest Building Regulations. 6 Simple Steps
  5. 5. calculations STEEL BEAM CALCULATIONS UNDERPINNING LOFT CONVERSIONS We offer a full coordinated and complete technical design service for domestic home owners looking to develop their existing or new build property. All our engineering services are carried out by a fully qualified structural engineer and includes structural drawings and full calculations. Structural calculations are required to meet Building Control Engineers satisfaction, and for the Builder/Contractor to work from in making sure that any construction they undertake is built structurally sound. All our calculations are produced on computer using the latest software. You will most certainly require them for a loft conversion, and you may even need them for a small extension. The structural calculations are incorporated into the final design drawings that will be submitted to Building Control prior to construction commencing. Make sure that the business you choose is covered - we are! We have full cover for: PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE If someone is injured or their property is damaged, the person or business responsible may be held legally liable for the injury or property damage. Where legal liability is established, damages will be awarded to the claimant to compensate them for their injury or the damage to their property. Where damages have been paid for an injury, the NHS is entitled to recover costs for hospital treatment. The person or business responsible will also need to pay legal costs, including the claimants. Liability insurance protects our business against these costs. PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE (PI) PI Insurance protects our business against claims for loss or damage made by a client or third party if we make mistakes or are found to have been negligent in some or all of the services we provide. PI insurance will also cover legal costs. Many professions are required to have PI insurance cover as a regulatory requirement or as part of their professional authorisation. This includes solicitors, accountants, architects, mortgage intermediaries, insurance brokers and financial advisers.
