1. Securing a New Water Source for Mega Manila 2. Angat Dam Remediation 3. Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement

Project 4. Rehabilitation, Operation and Transfer of Auxiliary

Units 4 & 5 5. Scaling up Sewerage and Sanitation

Potential Projects

∗ 97% of Mega Manila’s requirements come from one source – Angat Dam

∗ The identification and development of a new source is necessary for the water security and economic well-being of Mega Manila

∗ Project Objectives : Considering the age and the soundness of the existing aqueducts ( AQ1-AQ5), there is a need to strengthen the raw conveyance structures to resist the high magnitude earthquakes and effect of climate change in order to sustain the reliability of water supply source for Metro Manila.

∗ Project Components: Stage 1 : AQ-5 Repair and Retrofitting of the 9.9 km reinforced

concrete pipe with 3.6 meter diameter. Stage 2: AQ 3- AQ4 Repair and Retrofitting of 15 km reinforced

concrete pipe ( 2.7 m. dia) and 15.5 km pre-stressed concrete (3.4 m dia)

Stage 3: AQ-1 and AQ-2 Reconstruction to a single aqueduct / Bicti Tunnel 1 and 2 Interconnection at Bicti Outlet

3. Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project ( AWUAIP 3)

Cont. Project Estimated Cost: US $ 340 Million Projected Timeframe: 2013-2019 Pre-Construction activities: Secure fund sourcing , on- going procurement of consultancy services for Feasibility study and

preliminary engineering design Jan 2013- June 2013 Procurement of consultancy services for detailed engineering

design (DED) Jul 2013- Dec 2013 NEDA-ICC approval and funding for implementation

3. Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project

( AWUAIP 3)

∗ While K-Water recently won the contract to manage and operate the hydropower component of Angat Dam, the award did not include Auxiliary Units 4 & 5

∗ Auxiliary 4 = 10 megawatts ∗ Auxiliary 5 = 18 megawatts
