ADDISON–CARROLLTON AREA
ADDISON AIRPORT Addison Airport is a public airport in Addison, in Dallas County, Texas. Located just nine miles north
of Downtown Dallas, this airport is a convenient option for North Texans in need of regional air travel.
The airport opened in 1954 and was purchased by the town of Addison in 1976. The Addison Airport
Toll Tunnel was completed in 1999 to allow east-west traffic to cross the airport under the runway.
Addison Airport covers 368 acres with one 7,202-by-100-foot concrete runway. In 2006 the airport
had 133,557 aircraft operations, average 365 per day and 774 aircraft were then based at the
airport. Three fixed-base operators are on the field, Atlantic Aviation, Landmark Aviation, and Million
Air. Charter services are available from a variety of companies, with Business Jet Solutions and
Bombardier FlexJet having large operations at the field. The airport is the headquarters of Ameristar
Air Cargo, GTA Air, and Martinaire, and also has scheduled freight flights from AirNet, Flight Express,
and Flight Development. The airport is a training hub, with primary to advanced flight instruction
available from American Flyers, ATP, Monarch Air, PlaneSmart! and Lone Star Flyers. Also, the
Addison Airport is home to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a popular tourist destination in Addison,
which offers formal and self-guided tours of their aircraft, armor and vehicle collections.
LIFESTYLE Because of Addison's overwhelmingly commercial atmosphere, residents of Addison enjoy a unique
lifestyle not common in other suburbs. In 2005, the town of Addison introduced a wireless Internet
