Adam Knew Eve Genesis 4.1 says, “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, ‘I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.’” The term “knew” is a very appropriate reference to the relationship between a husband and his wife. It suggests the intimacy that finds satisfying expression within the loyalty and commitment of marriage. Mere carnal knowledge as experienced in casual sex does not fulfill man’s need or God’s will. The pleasure of knowing one’s partner physically was designed by God to be an affirmation of their knowledge of one another on a far deeper level. Intimacy of heart, mind and soul gives supreme meaning to this act. That is why the Lord reserved physical intimacy for those relationships where two people have publicly expressed the depth of their commitment to each other in wedlock. This holy union provides the needed security for mutual trust and respect. Only on this basis can two truly become one. It was within such a setting of love that God intended every baby to be born. – Aubrey AM - Be Considerate (Titus 3.1-2) PM - SINGING Office: (615)794-5267 Fax: (615)794-5342 News: (615)794-8885 [email protected] southernhills.net OUR ELDERS: David Broome John Bufford Dan Cottrell John Cottrell Jeff Rhodes OUR DEACONS: Advertising - Ryan Haedge, Cullen Rodgers Benevolence - David Cost Buildings & Grounds - DeWayne Johnston, Matt Potts Day School - Chris Graham, Len McKnatt, Dave Sweeney Education - Dale Alden, Phillip McCullough, Mike Mizer, Daniel Winkler Fellowship - Jimmy Davis Finance & Office Administration Chris Graham, Clint Oppermann Health & Wellness - John Dees Missions - John Pratt, Thomas Waggoner New Members - Ryan Haedge Security - Jimmy Campbell Senior Ministry - Dave Sweeney Technology - Michael Meade, Cullen Rodgers Worship - Alex Melton, Dave Sweeney Youth - Jimmy Campbell, Jimmy Davis, Chris Doughtie, DeWayne Johnston, Michael Meade OUR STAFF: Aubrey Johnson - Preaching Andy Miller - Family Life Cody Lovett - Youth Katie Vanderpool - Office Well done good and faithful servant. Adam Knew Eve

Genesis 4.1 says, “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she

conceived and bore Cain, saying, ‘I have gotten a man with the

help of the Lord.’” The term “knew” is a very appropriate

reference to the relationship between a husband and his wife. It

suggests the intimacy that finds satisfying expression within the

loyalty and commitment of marriage. Mere carnal knowledge as

experienced in casual sex does not fulfill man’s need or God’s

will. The pleasure of knowing one’s partner physically was

designed by God to be an affirmation

of their knowledge of one another on

a far deeper level. Intimacy of heart,

mind and soul gives supreme

meaning to this act. That is why the

Lord reserved physical intimacy for

those relationships where two people

have publicly expressed the depth of

their commitment to each other in

wedlock. This holy union provides

the needed security for mutual trust

and respect. Only on this basis can

two truly become one. It was within

such a setting of love that God intended every baby to be born.
