These are two slam poems that I wrote while at TRG:

Client: Home Depot

Going out to Dads new lawn

We spit nagged and the dog wagged at the lawn for years

Our familys fear of garden shears brought us tears,

No amount of seed could meet our needs

Til a little advice from HD

Brought us a final good deed

This is not a bet on a new TV set

As for me, Im thinking of the home D-E-P-O-T

They help the sick, weak, and the weary

Tackle neglected, forgotten landscapes

Allowing gardens to escape from uncertain fate

Through their astronomical fair for quality lawn care

Now we know how to DIY

Making us quicker, sleeker and faster

Masters of our grass and weed disaster

And in the end

Their wisdom and elbow grease

Peach cream crystal cheeks

With golden blonde hair

I tried not to stare

And imagine her bare

As she sat down

In that beautiful mahogany chair

But I could only direct my gaze

Down that beautiful frame

Originally they just sold chairs

Now ottomans, sectionals, and recliners

Are marked by Thomasvilles genuine care

Picked up a Thomasville chair of my own

I set down my body

And the comfort put me in the zone

While meticulously stitched leather upholstery

Hoisted me to new heights of ecstasy

Looking at that dcor

I could not believe
