Table 4 Field Reference: Add/Edit Site Page

Field Description

Site Information

Name The name of the site. Sites are assigned a default name that you can optionally change.

Description Description of the site.

Region The region the site belongs to. You can change the region to another region on your system.

Media mode The media mode for high-quality or high-capacity codecs:

• High Capacity (G711 codec only, with AGC; external device required for LEC)

• High Quality (all codecs, with AGC, LEC and Noise cancellation)

• Default: High Capacity

Video enabled Whether or not conferences hosted at the site can use video.

Default: No

Average meeting size The projected average number of participants hosted by the nodes in the site. This value is used to limit the risk of starting additional meetings at a site when there are insufficient ports to satisfy the requirements for the meeting.

When you start a meeting on a node, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace attempts to account for the number of ports that are required based on the number you configure for this setting. This setting does not prevent a meeting from exceeding the average meeting size. However, the higher you set the average meeting size the lower the number of meetings you can start on a node at this site.

If you host large meetings on the nodes of a given site, this setting can help prevent issues from occurring.

This field is set to a minimum restricted value of zero. The maximum value for this field depends on the selected Media mode option:

• For high capacity media mode, the range is (0-500)

• For high quality media mode, the range is (0-75)

Restrictions: (2–500)

Default: 4

Maximum meeting size The projected maximum number of participants hosted by the nodes in the site.

The maximum value for this field depends on the selected Media mode option:

• For high capacity media mode, the range is (2-1000)

• For high quality media mode, the range is (2-150)

Restrictions: (2–1000)

Default: 25

Allow overflow meetings from other sites

Whether or not the site can host meetings for users who are associated with the site only.

Select Yes to allow nodes on this site to host meetings from other sites when those sites have an overflow condition. Select No to prevent nodes on this site from hosting meetings from nodes on other sites.

Overflow occurs when the Meeting Director Broker (MBD) determines that there is no node in a site that can host a meeting. The MBD selects a node from another site (or a site in another region) in the system to host the meeting.

The following conditions can cause an overflow:

• All nodes in a site are used to capacity.

• All nodes in a site are inactive.

• A combination of the above two conditions occurs.

Default: Yes

24-hour time Whether to show meeting times by a 24-hour clock.

Default: No

Time Zones

Available time zones

Time zones for this site

Select time zone for the site from the list of available time zones and click the arrow symbol to move your selected time zones to the Available on site list. The Selected time zone details field displays information on your selected time zones.

Alarms

Call out on major alarm

Phone number to call on alarm

Whether the system places a call to the specified phone number1 if an error condition affects system operation.

Recommendation: Yes

Restriction: The + character is allowed only as the first character in the field.

Default: No

Dial attendant on timeout Whether callers are transferred to the attendant in these situations:

• Caller dials 0 for operator assistance.

• Caller does not enter a number at a voice prompt.

Default: No

Attendant phone Phone number that callers are routed to if they do not press a number at a voice prompt or press 0 for operator assistance.1

Tip Make sure that the people at this phone number are available and trained to provide assistance for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

Restriction: The + character is allowed only as the first character in the field.

Language 6

Language 7

Language 8

Enabled languages. The Language 1 field sets the default system-wide language.

• If the languages license is installed, the number of active language fields (up to four fields) is determined by the number of installed languages.

• If the languages license is not installed, only the Language 1 field appears.

Restriction: You must restart2 the system to enable or disable a language. You do not need to restart the system to switch the order in which the languages appear in these fields.

Caution A system restart terminates all existing call connections. Proceed only during a scheduled maintenance period or during a period of extremely low usage.

Default: English (US)

1. The required format for phone numbers is determined by the call-control device for your IP telephony network. Therefore, enter phone numbers in the same format used to dial similar numbers from a phone on the same IP telephony network as Cisco Unified MeetingPlace. For example, if calls within your company are made by dialing the last four digits of a phone number, enter only the last four digits in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for internal phone numbers. If, however, you want Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to call a phone in a different area code, you might need to include 91 and the complete phone number including the area code.

2. A system restart terminates all existing call connections. Proceed only during a scheduled maintenance period or during a period of extremely low usage. To restart the system, enter sudo mpx_sys restart in the CLI of the Application Server. For information about signing into the CLI, see Using the Command-Line Interface (CLI) on the Application Server.

Table 8 Field Reference: Add Translation Rule Page and Edit Translation Rule Page

Field Description

Description Enter information to help you and other system administrators understand the translation rule.

Example: Converts a 7-digit number to a 5-digit extension.

Digits to match Number of digits that must be in the incoming ANI1 in order for this rule to be applied.

Example: Suppose this field is set to 5:

• If the ANI is 50123, the system applies this rule.

• If the ANI is 0123 or 5550123, the system does not apply this rule.

Recommendation: The ANI can vary depending on whether calls are received from internal, external, long distance, or international sources. Use a large enough value to preserve uniqueness for ANI matches. We recommend a value of 4 or 5.

Restriction: You cannot modify the preconfigured translation rule, in which this field is set to 0. The system uses the preconfigured translation rule to find a user profile phone number that matches the incoming ANI exactly without adding or deleting any digits.

About Time Zones

Each user profile has a Time zone setting. Things you should know about time zones in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace:

• After you install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace, it assigns a special attribute to any scheduled meeting. This attribute is the time requested by the scheduler in their local time zone along with the time zone; for example, “12/10/2009 3:00 PM America/Los_Angeles.”

When you perform a daylight saving or time zone (DST/TZ) update on the Application Server, meetings with this special attribute are automatically changed according to the new DST/TZ definition if the user profile of the scheduler is in the time zone that had the DST/TZ update.

However, meetings that were scheduled before you installed Cisco Unified MeetingPlace do not have this attribute and are not automatically changed when you perform a DST/TZ update. The system sends email notifications for meetings that were originally scheduled through the Lotus Notes or Microsoft Outlook interface to the scheduler. The notifications inform the schedulers that their meetings are affected by DST and that they need to delete and reschedule the affected meetings. For meetings that are impacted by DST and that were originally scheduled through the MeetingPlace web scheduling interface or through MeetingPlace Conference Manager, the system sends an update notification to the scheduler and to all other invitees in the meeting.

Note that meetings scheduled by users configured to use “local time” are not updated (as described next).

• Do not use the default “Local time of Cisco Unified MeetingPlace server,” which is configured during installation and can be modified at any time through the CLI of the Application Server. Instead, set this field to a specific time zone.

• For each meeting, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace accepts and reports the start time in the time zone of the meeting scheduler.

• All email notifications use the time zone of the meeting scheduler, even those that are sent to invitees in different time zones.

• On the Find Meeting and Meeting Details pages in the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace web scheduling interface, the meeting times appear in the time zone of the user who is signed into the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace web scheduling interface.

• All instances of recurring meetings take place at the same time of day in the time zone configured in the user profile of the meeting scheduler. Meeting invitees must adjust for time zone differences. Remember that some locations, such as Arizona, do not use daylight saving time.

• You download time-zone tables from Cisco.com.

– Load the Linux time-zone update on the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace application server so that correct times are sent in email notifications.

– For clients running MeetingPlace Conference Manager, load the time-zone update provided by Sun Microsystems so that meeting times are displayed correctly in MeetingPlace Conference Manager after a time-zone rule change.

Note After installing the time-zone updates on the Application Server, you must restart this server.

Field Description

Identification

Video terminal name Name used in meeting participant lists and reports. For example, enter the name or location of the conference room that contains the video terminal.

Recommendation: Consider adding text that reflects the Method of attending field value, so that meeting schedulers can perform these actions:

• If multiple video terminals are required for a meeting, the meeting scheduler might want to invite video terminals that have the same Method of attending.

• If the Method of attending is set to Have terminal call in, the meeting scheduler might want to invite only video terminals and no users. Any users who are invited will also be dialed out when a meeting participant (with dial-out privileges) enters #33 in the TUI.

Restriction: At most, only the first 60 characters of the Video terminal name will appear on the scheduling page. Depending on the specific web browser and window size, even a smaller number of characters might appear. Therefore, make sure that you use concise video terminal names.

Endpoint E.164 number Phone number1 for the system to dial out to the video endpoint.

Restriction: Only these characters are allowed: (),-. and 0-9.

Group name Name of user group to which this VTP2 belongs.

Default: System

Email address Where to send email notifications when this video terminal is invited to a meeting. Typically, you configure this field with the address of help desk staff or whoever is in charge of reserving the video terminal and conference room.

(Microsoft Outlook integration only) See Requirements for Inviting Video Terminal Profiles from Microsoft Outlook.

For format requirements, see the Email address user profile field.

Geography See the Geography user profile field.

Method of attending The method by which this video terminal joins meetings:

• (Recommended) Dial out to terminal at meeting start—System dials out to the video terminal at meeting start. Use this setting for Direct-to-Meeting Mode for Invited Terminals.

• Have terminal call in—Video terminal can join meetings in any of the these ways:

– (Recommended) Meeting owner dials out to all missing invitees by entering #33 in the TUI. Only meeting participants with dial-out privileges can perform this task. This is the Alternative to Direct-to-Meeting Mode for Invited Terminals.

– User calls into the meeting from this video terminal.

– Meeting participant dials out to the phone number (Endpoint E.164 number) of the video terminal. This can be performed from the web meeting room or by entering #31 in the TUI. Only meeting participants with dial-out privileges can perform this task.

Restriction: Some video terminals might not successfully negotiate video unless one of the recommended options are used.

Default: Have terminal call in

Skip meeting entry voice prompts for dial-out calls

Whether this video terminal joins meetings directly without hearing voice prompts to record a name or enter a password.

Restriction: This field applies only when the Method of attending field is set to Dial out to terminal at meeting start.

Recommendation: Select Yes if any of these statements are true:

• You want to configure the VTP for Direct-to-Meeting Mode for Invited Terminals.

• The video terminal is incapable of using the TUI.

• Your users are not proficient with this video terminal.

Default: Yes

Video terminal codec This option is available only when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server.

Which codec to use when the video terminal dials directly in to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace, or when the system dials directly out to the video terminal:

• H.261 (high rate only)

• H.263

• H.264

• Use default (H.264)

Restrictions:

• The selected codec is not applied to calls that are transferred to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace from another phone. For transferred calls, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace uses the video terminal codec in the VTP associated with the originally connected phone or terminal, not the terminal that is transferred.

• H.261 is available only when a meeting is using the High Rate video type. If a meeting is using the Standard Rate video type and a video with Video terminal codec set to H.261, this video terminal uses H.263 instead.

Default: H.264

Notifications

Can receive notifications Whether to send email notifications to the Email address in this VTP.

Recommendations: Avoid changing this setting once Cisco Unified MeetingPlace is in use, because users might expect and rely on the current email notification behavior.

Default: Group default (Yes)

If, however, you want Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to call a phone in a different area code, you might need to include a 9 and the complete phone number including the area code.

2. VTP = video terminal profile

Table 13 Field Reference: Add Video Type Page and Edit Video Type Page

Field Description

Video format name Name of this video format. This name appears on the user configuration pages and must be unique.

For details about these video formats and the user experience, see the Planning Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

Video mode Select a video format from the list.

When the Type of media server is set to Express Media Server, these preconfigured video formats are available:

• H.263

• Mobile

• Compatibility

• High Quality

• HD

When the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server, these preconfigured video formats are available:

• Standard Rate

• High Rate

Restrictions:

• When the Type of media server is set to Express Media Server, use this page to add a new video type. You can modify only the video types that you add to the system. You cannot modify the preconfigured ones.

• When the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server, you cannot modify preconfigured video types or create new video types.

Default:

• Compatibility (when the Type of media server is set to Express Media Server)

• Standard Rate (when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server)

Minimum bit rate (kbps) The minimum video bit rate that will be assigned to meetings using the selected format. The minimum rate is determined by the Video mode selected.

This is used to prevent endpoints from establishing a video session with a low bit rate that could degrade the quality of the meeting. If the video endpoint cannot meet the minimum bit rate, the system treats it as an audio-only endpoint.

Default: depends on the Video mode selected

Alarms PageUse this page to display the Alarm Table and clear alarms. To find this page, select Services > Alarms.

Maximum bit rate (kbps)

The maximum bit rate at which a video caller can connect to the system. The maximum rate is determined by the Video mode selected.

If you allocate more bandwidth, the user requires more SRUs.

Meeting participants cannot join at a rate higher than the value of this field. If a participant joins at a rate lower than the value of the maximum bit rate, the system retains the additional SRUs allowing additional participants to join the meeting.

Only signaled rates are taken into account. Flow-controlled bit rates are not taken into account. For example, if a meeting was scheduled with a maximum bit rate of 768 kbps, and a caller joins at that rate and the system later sets the flow to a lower rate, the unused capacity is not returned to the system.

Restriction: The maximum bandwidth of video calls can also be limited by the following settings, the lowest of which is enforced:

• Video Call Bandwidth region parameter in Cisco Unified Communications Manager. See Configuring the Maximum Video Call Bandwidth in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

• Bandwidth capabilities and configurations of the video endpoints.

Default: depends on the Video mode selected

Note Section for notes about this video; for example, under which conditions it should be used.

Restriction: This field is not available when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server.

Default: Blank

Username and password for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager AXL database for user authentication.

• If you created an application user in Cisco Unified Communications Manager, enter the user ID and password for that application user.

For information about creating an application user, see Creating an Application User in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

• If you did not create an application user, enter the username and password for the default administrator user that was configured during the installation of Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

If you use the default administrator user, you will need to update the AXL username or AXL password in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace whenever the Cisco Unified Communications Manager administrator username or password gets modified.

AXL URL Enter https://ip-address:8443/axl/, using the Cisco Unified Communications Manager IP address.

When you configure this field for the initial Directory Service configuration, make sure that you also check the Update users interval and Perform full sync with Cisco Unified Communications Manager check boxes.

If Cisco Unified Communications Manager fails, you can modify this field to use a redundant Cisco Unified Communications Manager for authentication only. You must avoid updating or importing user profiles from the redundant Cisco Unified Communications Manager by setting the Update users interval field to the largest available value. When you switch the AXL URL field back to the primary Cisco Unified Communications Manager, you need to set the Update users interval field to the previous value to re-enable user profile synchronization between Cisco Unified MeetingPlace and the primary Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Perform full sync with Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Determines how the system performs Directory Service user profile updates, both at scheduled intervals and when triggered by checking Update users interval and clicking Save:

• When this is unchecked, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace updates only the user profiles that were updated in Cisco Unified Communications Manager after the most recent Directory Service user profile update.

• When this is checked, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace updates all Directory Service user profiles, whether or not they were recently updated in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

• Whether or not this is checked, new users in Cisco Unified Communications Manager are always imported to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace as part of the Directory Service user profile update.

Restriction: Because of the large amount of user data being transferred, full synchronizations might impact system performance. Therefore, use this check box only in these situations:

• You are performing the first Directory Service import of user profiles.

• You migrated non-local users from a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 6.1 system to a Release 8.6 system.

• You modify the AXL URL.

• You accidentally delete Directory Service user profiles through the User Profiles Page or Import User Profiles Page of the Administration Center.

For details about how the user profiles are configured, see Directory Service User Profile Configuration.

Table 47 Field Reference: Media Parameters Page

Field Description

Media Parameters

Audio RTP starting port The Media Server assigns RTP1/UDP2 ports starting from the specified value up to that value plus 4096. Modify this field only if required to conform with local firewall rules.

This field applies only to audio ports. Video ports always start at 20000 and are not configurable.

Note If you change this setting and your system is configured for Hardware Media Server, you must restart your MCU to make your change take effect.

Default 16384

TTL Time-to-live value in the IP header of transmitted voice packets. Determines how many hops an IP packet can travel through the network before it is discarded.

Recommendation: Set the value at least high enough to match the number of router hops between Cisco Unified MeetingPlace and the furthest user endpoint. Using a relatively low number can help reduce the quantity of stray packets on the network.

Default: 64

65For the most recent version of this content, see the individual guides on cisco.com.

QoS3

Audio media IPv4

Video media IPv4

Signaling IPv4

Differentiated Services (DiffServ) code point (DSCP) settings that determine the QoS for the audio and video media signaling, as defined in RFC 2475.

Recommendation: Keep the default value. The other values are available for the rare instances when the network requires a different DSCP setting.

For more information, see the “Network Infrastructure” chapter of the Cisco Unified Communications Solution Reference Network Design (SRND) that applies to your version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html.

Defaults:

• Audio media: EF DSCP (101110)

• Video media: AF41 DSCP (100010)

• Signaling: CS3 (precedence 3) DSCP (011000)

Enable automatic gain control (AGC)

AGC causes Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to dynamically adjust the input gain so the average energy matches a specific level. This is useful when various phones, or people in a conference room, produce different volume levels. Nevertheless, AGC can be problematic in cases where noise might be mistaken for voice.

When AGC is disabled, the specified Fixed gain (dB) is applied to all inputs.

Default: No

AGC target level (dBm) The target energy level for the AGC algorithm is applied to all inputs. Make this number less negative to increase the average volume level. The default value of -18 is a typical level for telephony circuits.

Restriction: This field applies only when the Enable automatic gain control (AGC) field is set to Yes.

Default: -18

Echo Canceller4 (this section is only available when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server)

Window size (milliseconds) Range of echo return delay that the LEC will attempt to cancel.

Default: 128

Enable non-linear processing (NLP) NLP removes the small amount of residual uncanceled echo that inevitably passes through the echo canceller and might be useful for removing residual echo from acoustic or low-bandwidth voice codec (for example, ITU-T G.729) endpoints.

Set this field to No:

• If you do not want to suppress the residual echo.

• If you notice subtle voice quality issues, such as variations in background noise levels while NLP is enabled.

Default: Yes

Table 47 Field Reference: Media Parameters Page (continued)

Administration Center Page ReferencesAdd Video Terminal Profile Page

Enable comfort noise in NLP To help make the overall background noise level continuous, the NLP generates comfort noise.

Set this field to No if you prefer silence instead of comfort noise whenever NLP is actively removing residual echo. Note, however, that disabling comfort noise might result in undesirable variations of background noise levels between silence and noise.

Default: Yes

Enable LEC w. G.729? Whether to enable LEC when G.729 is in use.

Restriction: You must disable Enable LEC w. G.729? (set this field to No) if you want the High Capacity Global audio mode field on the Media Resource Configuration Page to also use G.729.

Default: Yes

Minimum echo return loss (ERL) (dB)

A lower ERL setting might help the LEC cancel loud echoes, but it increases the risk of distortion caused by clipping or squelching of the signal.

Default: 6

Bulk delay (milliseconds) This value is added to the Window size (milliseconds), so that the cancelled echo return delays will range from Bulk delay (milliseconds) to Bulk delay (milliseconds) + Window size (milliseconds). This allows the LEC to work on echoes that are outside the normal range in exchange for not canceling short-return-delay echoes.

Default: 0

Gain Control5 (this section is available when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server)

Fixed gain (dB) The fixed input gain is applied to all inputs. Use positive numbers to increase the volume, and use negative numbers to decrease the volume. The default value of 0 leaves the input level alone.

Restriction: This field applies only when the Enable automatic gain control (AGC) field is set to No.

Default: 0

Digits6

Enable RFC 2833 detection There are three DTMF methods:

1. RFC-2833, which is negotiated and can be disabled

2. KPML, which is negotiated and cannot be disabled

3. In-band DTMF tones, which is not negotiated but can be disabled (see “Enable in-band DTMF detection” setting)

Note KPML is only supported on Hardware Media Server systems.

RFC 2833 is a standard mechanism for transmitting keypad digits in-band in VoIP media packets. It is commonly used as an adjunct to SIP signaling. Most calls will negotiate either RFC-2833 (in band) or KPML7 (out of band) depending on the capabilities of the user endpoint.

If both RFC-2833 and KPML are negotiated (implying that RFC-2833 was enabled), Cisco Unified MeetingPlace will listen for RFC-2833 and not KPML. You can force the use of KPML by disabling RFC-2833 if you are trying to validate KPML. Otherwise, disabling RFC-2833 is typically not necessary as most calls will not notice a difference. If you do notice a difference it may be due to Cisco Unified Communications Manager inserting a MTP to translate RFC-2833 to KPML. This happens if a trunk or endpoint does not support out-of-band signaling. Depending on the setup, MTP insertion may result in loss of video or, if you run out of MTP resources, call failure.

Restriction: this field is available only when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server.

Default: Yes

RFC 2833 payload type Payload type for RFC2833 digits, tones, and signals.

Recommendation: Contact your network administrator for the payload type used in your network.

Default: 101

Enable in-band DTMF detection Whether to turn on the signal processing which looks for in-band acoustic DTMF8 tones in the input audio media stream. Note that DTMF works well only with the G.711 codec.

Recommendation: Enter Yes to support terminals that lack another signaling mechanism, including RFC 2833, KPML, or H.245. Enter No if you find that Cisco Unified MeetingPlace responds to voices as if they were keypad inputs (talk off).

Note KPML is only supported on Hardware Media Server systems.

Default: Yes

This option is only available when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server.

Jitter Buffer (this section is only available when the Type of media server is set to Hardware Media Server)

Maximum size (milliseconds)

Minimum size (milliseconds)

Maximum and minimum lengths of time, in milliseconds, that the jitter buffer holds voice packets. A large jitter buffer helps the system accurately reassemble the media stream, but it adds to perceived latency.

Jitter refers to the variation in the delay of received packets. When voice data is sent across the network, the packets are sent in a continuous stream with the packets spaced evenly apart. Due to network congestion, improper queuing, or configuration errors, the delay between each received packet can vary instead of remaining constant. Some packets can even arrive out of order or not arrive at all.

A higher Maximum size (milliseconds) helps the system adapt to poor conditions. A lower value might be better for interactive conversations, where an occasional dropped packet might be preferable to long latency.

The Minimum size (milliseconds) is the starting jitter buffer size. The closer this value is to the typical jitter on the network, the quicker the system adapts, but this adds directly to latency.

Maximum size (milliseconds) default: 250

Minimum size (milliseconds) default: 30

Miscellaneous

Maximum conference speakers Maximum number of input lines that will be simultaneously mixed together in a meeting. A small value (2) reduces the background noise and echo. A large value (4) is best for more interactive meetings.

Default: 4

1. RTP = Real-Time Transport Protocol

2. UDP = User Datagram Protocol

3. QoS = Quality of Service

4. The echo canceller parameters control the Line Echo Canceller (LEC), which reduces audible echo in meetings.

5. The gain control parameters apply a fixed or adaptive gain to all audio inputs.

6. The digits parameters control how keypad inputs are received.

7. KPML = Key Press Markup Language

8. DTMF = Dual Tone Multi-Frequency

Media Mode Select High Capacity or High Quality.

• High Capacity (G711 codec only, with AGC; external device required for LEC)

• High Quality (all codecs, with AGC, NoiseCancellation, G711 with LEC)

Default: High Capacity

Video enabled Enable or disable ad-hoc video. When enabled, the system reserves the same number of ad-hoc video ports as ad-hoc audio ports from the SRU pool. Based on the selected Ad-hoc video mode type, these video ports are configured at the Ad-hoc video minimum bit rate (kbps) and the Ad-hoc video maximum bit rate (kbps).

The system guarantees video ports at the basic rate of 320 kbps. The system provides additional bit rates to the port only if there are remaining SRUs.

Default: No

Ad-hoc video mode This system-level setting applies to all ad-hoc conferences. Options:

• H.263

• H.264 AVC (Level 1.1)—Low resolutions available with mobile endpoints. Example: QCIF 30 FPS.

• H.264 AVC (Level 1.3)—Most common resolutions available with desktop endpoints. Example: CIF 30 FPS.

• H.264 AVC (Level 3.0)—High quality resolutions for more advanced endpoints. Example: VGA at 30 FPS.

• H.264 AVC (Level 3.1)—High definition resolutions for HD endpoints. Example: 720p HD at 30 FPS.

Note that the resolution examples are not guaranteed. Per the H.264/AVC video coding standard, the endpoint must be able to support different resolutions for a given negotiated level. The actual resolution will vary and can change at any time during the conference. Cisco Unified MeetingPlace signals the specified H.264 level but does not mandate any resolution scheme.

Restriction: You can configure the ad-hoc video mode only if you set the “Video enabled” field to Yes. Otherwise, the “Ad-hoc video mode” field is dimmed.

Default: H.264 AVC (Level 1.3)

Ad-hoc video minimum bit rate (kbps) Minimum bit rate for the video experience. The minimum bit rate is the minimum rate that the endpoint must receive from the conference.

The conference bridge offers the minimum and maximum bit rates to the endpoint during negotiation. The minimum bit rate specifies the minimum video experience and if the system does not have resources to support this rate, video is not offered to the user.

Ad-hoc video maximum bit rate (kbps) Maximum bit rate for ad-hoc video.

The maximum bit rate is the maximum rate that the endpoint can send video to the conference.

Available ports Display only. The number of ports available for ad-hoc conferencing.

About Noise Cancellation and Line Echo Cancellation (LEC)The noise cancellation feature in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace cancels the background noise in conference calls. Noise cancellation only works for 20 millisecond samples (the standard for Cisco IP Phone and voice software).

Using the G.711 codec in high-quality mode with LEC, AGC, and noise cancellation enabled requires up to eight SRUs.

Using the G.729 or G.722 codec with AGC and noise cancellation enabled requires up to eight SRUs.

With video enabled, the resource usage increases based on the video capability:

• 384 kbps video = additional 1 SRU

• 768 kbps video = additional 2 SRUs

• 2 Mbps video = additional 6 SRUs.

Line Echo cancellation only works for participants using the G.711 codec.

Recommendations for Determining the Global Audio Mode

Note This parameter only applies to systems that use a Hardware Media Server.

Options for this parameter are:

• G.711, G.729; 250 ports/blade

• G.711, G.722, G.729, iLBC; 166 ports/blade

The following applies to the Hardware Media Server when used alone or in multiple blade situations:

• For High Capacity mode (G.711 with LEC and G.729 without LEC), the Audio Blades have a maximum audio port capacity of 250 at 90% of hardware capacity. When the hardware resource limit is reached, the system sends an alarm and users hear a busy signal when they attempt to access their meeting.

• For High Quality mode (G.711, G.722, G.729 with LEC, and iLBC), the Audio Blades have a maximum audio port capacity of 166 at 60% of hardware capacity. When the hardware resource limit is reached, the system sends an alarm and users hear a busy signal when they attempt to access their meeting.

Note If you use Line Echo Cancellation (LEC) with G.729, you must select the lower capacity audio mode.

Considerations for Systems Using Ad-Hoc Video

• When you set Enable ad-hoc video to Yes:

– The Ad-hoc video mode, the Ad-hoc video minimum bit rate (kbps), and the Ad-hoc video maximum bit rate (kbps) options are enabled.

– Ad-hoc video ports = Ad-hoc audio ports

– Scheduled video ports = Video available ports - Ad-hoc video ports

• Ad-hoc conferencing works with these configuration settings:

– On the Media Resource Configuration Page, Enable ad-hoc G.729 or G.722 is set to No. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conference bridge is in the default device pool and the Cisco Unified IP Phone device that initiates the ad-hoc conference is also in the default device pool.

– On the Media Resource Configuration Page, Enable ad-hoc G.729 or G.722 is set to Yes. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conference bridge is in the default device pool and the Cisco Unified IP Phone device that initiates the ad-hoc conference is in the G.729 device pool.

– On the Media Resource Configuration Page, Enable ad-hoc G.729 or G.722 is set to Yes. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conference bridge is in the G.729 device pool and the Cisco Unified IP Phone device that initiates the ad-hoc conference is in the G.729 device pool.

– On the Media Resource Configuration Page, Enable ad-hoc G.729 or G.722 is set to Yes. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conference bridge is in the G.729 device pool and the Cisco Unified IP Phone device that initiates the ad-hoc conference is in the default device pool.

Administration Center Page ReferencesAdd Video Type Page

When you configure ad-hoc conferencing, consider this criteria:

• The system guarantees voice ports for G.711. You can enable ad-hoc G.729 or G.722 only if there are enough SRUs on the system to support these features. If there are enough resources, the system immediately deducts them from the remaining SRU pool.

• If you enable ad-hoc video, the system reserves the same number of ad-hoc video ports as ad-hoc audio ports from the SRU pool.

The system guarantees video ports at the basic rate of 320 kbps. The system provides additional bit rates to the port only if there are remaining SRUs.

You can configure a lower rate to improve video quality and responsiveness. If you want lower network utilization, you can lower the maximum bit rate allowed for video conferencing.

Intra-frames (or I-frames) are frames that carry the complete picture of a video image from a participant. I-frames are sent periodically in a video stream and whenever a video speaker switch occurs.

When the active speaker changes, the system requests an I-frame and then waits to receive an I-frame from the new active speaker before switching the video stream. Until an I-frame is received or the active speaker changes again, the system sends FVU requests to the new active speaker every two seconds.

Active/Previous Speaker Channel IDs (Chn ID) of the active and previous speakers in the conference.

Active Video Chn Number of active video channels in use during this conference.

Max Jitter Maximum jitter detected in incoming audio during this conference.

Max Play Delay Maximum delay during this meeting, in milliseconds, between the time a play request was received and the time the buffer started playing the data.

1. RTP = Real-Time Transport Protocol

Table 53 Output Reference: Media Statistics Report Page > Channel Statistics Report

Field Name Description

Total Active Channels Number of channels that are currently active.

Channel Record Last Updated

Date and time that the channel record was last refreshed, which occurs automatically and frequently.

Chn ID Channel identification assigned to the caller.

Conf ID Unique number used by the local audio mixer to identify the voice meeting. This value is different from the meeting ID displayed to users.

Start Time Date and time that the call was established.

Elapsed Amount of time that the call has been active.

Audio Pkts Rcv/Sent/Lost Number of audio RTP1 packets received from and sent to the endpoint and the number of lost packets.

Video Pkts Rcv/Sent Number of video RTP packets received from and sent to the endpoint.

Audio KBytes Rcv/Sent Amount of audio RTP data, in kilobytes, received from and sent to the endpoint.

Video KBytes Rcv/Sent Amount of video RTP data, in kilobytes, received from and sent to the endpoint.

Out of Order Video Pkts Number of video RTP packets that were received out of sequence from the endpoint.

FVU / Flow Cntl Requests Number of fast video update requests and flow-control requests received from the endpoint.

I frame Req / Detected Number of I-frames requested and detected. I-frames are frames that carry the complete picture of a video image of a participant.

Under normal conditions, the requested and detected values should be the same. If these counts do not match, check the video endpoints for errors.

Also, endpoints that have difficulty decoding video can request additional I-frames. Therefore, endpoints that have a higher I-frame count than others in a conference should be examined for network issues.

Note The fields that display only video information do not appear in report output if no video calls are received by Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

Flush Rate Average number of flushed packets per second. A flushed packet is one that arrived too late for the audio mixer to play in the correct sequence order and is thus thrown away.

Note The value of this field and the Insert Rate field should be equal.

Insert Rate Average number of PLC2 packets per second that are locally generated by the audio mixer and inserted in place of packets that did not arrive in time to play in the correct sequence order. Without PLC packets, callers would hear clicks and pops because of missing packets.

Note The value of this field and the Flush Rate field should be equal.

Silence Pkt Rate Average number of RTP packets per second that are not received, not sent, or are SID3 packets.

Using VAD4 saves bandwidth by sending RTP packets over the network only when the audio reaches a certain level, such as when a caller talks. When the caller stops talking, a SID packet is sent to notify the audio mixer that a subsequent gap in RTP packets is caused by silence on the call, as opposed to serious network delay. If the last packet in a stream of RTP packets is a SID, the audio mixer knows not to count the subsequent gap as jitter and to locally generate and play comfort noise to fill the gap.

Audio Pkt Size Size of audio RTP packets, in bytes. 160-byte packets correspond to a 20 ms packetization period.

Max Jitter Maximum jitter detected in incoming audio packets from the endpoint.

Avg Jitter Average jitter value observed for packets arriving from the endpoint.

Pkt Delay Delay, in milliseconds, between the current packet being played and the last received packet. Also called buffer depth.

Digits Rcvd Number of digits received from the endpoint.

Digits Sent Number of digits sent to the endpoint.

Max Play Delay Maximum delay, in milliseconds, between the time a play request was received and the time the buffer started playing the data.

Play Delay Current delay, in milliseconds, between the time a play request is received and the time the buffer starts playing the data.

Max Record Delay Maximum delay, in milliseconds, between the time a file recording was requested and the time the recording began.

Record Delay Current delay, in milliseconds, between the time a file recording is requested and the time the recording begins.

Maximum meeting length (minutes)

User cannot schedule meetings longer than this number of minutes. Also, reservationless meetings end after this number of minutes.

Restriction: If this value differs from the following, the lowest value is used:

• Maximum meeting length (minutes) field in the user profile of the meeting owner (see Table 71).

• Maximum Call Duration Timer service parameter in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

See Configuring the Maximum Call Duration in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Default: 240

Meeting ID start guard time (minutes)

Number of minutes before the requested meeting start time that the meeting ID is reserved.

This field and the Meeting ID end guard time (minutes) field control when meeting IDs are available for reuse and when the system recognizes a meeting ID.

Before the meeting ID start guard time, users who try to attend the meeting hear or see on the screen: “This is not a recognized meeting ID number.” During the meeting ID start guard time period, users hear: “The meeting has not started.”

Meeting ID start guard times are not applied to reservationless meetings or meetings that begin immediately.

Recommendation: 30. To ensure that meeting IDs are available for reuse, decrease this value if the number of simultaneous meetings to be held on your system is about the same as the number of available meeting IDs.

Default: 30

Meeting ID end guard time (minutes)

Number of minutes after a meeting that the meeting ID is reserved.

This field and the Meeting ID start guard time (minutes) field control when meeting IDs are available for reuse and when the system recognizes a meeting ID.

During the meeting ID end guard time, users who try to attend the meeting hear or see on the screen: “The meeting has ended.” After the meeting ID end guard time period, users hear: “This is not a recognized meeting ID number.”

Meeting ID end guard times are not applied to reservationless meetings or meetings that are user-terminated before the scheduled end time.

Recommendation: 15. To ensure that meeting IDs are available for reuse, decrease this value if the number of simultaneous meetings to be held on your system is about the same as the number of available meeting IDs.

Default: 30

Early meeting start (minutes) Maximum time, in minutes, before the scheduled meeting start that participants can enter the meeting. This field does not apply to reservationless meetings.

Restriction: This number cannot exceed the value entered in the Meeting ID start guard time (minutes) field.

Last warning time (minutes) Number of minutes before the end of a meeting when the system issues a warning.

Default: 2

Minimum meeting password length

(MeetingPlace-scheduled deployments only)

Note A meeting password is required.

Minimum number of characters required in meeting passwords.

A value of 0 means that meeting passwords are never required, even for meetings that are scheduled by users whose user profile Meeting password required field is set to Yes.

Recommendation: Follow your company guidelines for similar telecommunications systems.

Default: 0

Days until meeting statistics deleted

Minimum number of days that meeting data is stored on the Application Server and Web Server. To determine the actual date when the meeting data will be deleted:

• If you enter a value less than 7, the system deletes the meeting data after the specified number plus 7 days. For example, if you enter 5, the meeting data is deleted after 5 + 7 = 12 days.

• If you enter a value equal to or greater than 7 days, the system deletes the meeting data after the specified number of days. For example, if you enter 7, the meeting data is deleted after 7 days.

Once meeting data is deleted, it is no longer available for reporting purposes.

Restriction: Changes to this field apply only to meetings that are scheduled after the field is changed. For each meeting, the system applies the field that was configured at the time the meeting was scheduled.

Recommendation: If your system holds more than 2,000 meetings per day, keep this value lower than 38 days. This will prevent database size issues that may impact system performance. For more information, see Maintaining the Database.

Default: 38

Disconnect empty port (minutes)

Number of minutes after the scheduled start time that ports are held after all participants leave, even when the scheduled meeting time is not over. This time accounts for longer meetings when people break and return to the meeting. This time also applies if no one comes to the meeting.

Restriction: This parameter does not apply to reservationless meetings.

Default: 30

Early meeting port release (minutes)

Number of minutes before the scheduled end of a meeting that ports are released if no ports are in use for that meeting.

Default: 5

Enable fast blast outdial (disables regular meetings) (available only on audio-only systems)

Available only when the Type of media server is set to Express Media Server.

This feature is displayed only when Enable Secure Conferencing is set to Yes.

Enables fast blast outdial feature. When you set Enable fast blast outdial (disables regular meetings) to Yes, regular meetings are blocked and cannot be scheduled. Blast outdial meetings will dial up to 96 phones at a time without a pause.

When you set Enable fast blast outdial (disables regular meetings) to No, regular meetings still work. Blast outdial meetings dial up to 25 phones at a time and then pause 40+ seconds before placing additional calls.

Default: No

Meeting Configuration (Additional features available only on MeetingPlace-managed and audio-only deployments)

Extend meeting (minutes) Whether or not to extend meetings if they run over the requested duration and if ports are available. Meetings might continue to be extended as long as ports are available, up to the Maximum meeting length (minutes) field value. Specifically for web meeting rooms:

• For meetings scheduled with zero locations, the web meeting is extended as long as there is at least one participant in the web meeting room.

• For meetings scheduled with at least one location, the web meeting is extended only if there are at least two voice meeting participants.

If you select Yes, also enter the number of minutes to extend meetings.

If you select No, or if ports are not available at the end of the meeting, callers receive a warning that the meeting will end. The warning time is determined by the Last warning time (minutes) field.

Default: Yes, 15

Maximum advance days to schedule

Maximum number of days you can schedule a meeting before the scheduled meeting date.

A value of 1 indicates you can only schedule meetings for the current and following day.

Default: 300

Allow vanity meeting IDs Whether users can request a specific meeting ID when scheduling a meeting. If a user requests a meeting ID that is already reserved for another meeting, the system prompts the user to select another meeting ID.

If you select No, the system generates a unique, randomly generated ID for every scheduled meeting. Users cannot change the assigned meeting IDs.

Default: Yes

Minimum scheduled meeting ID length

Minimum number of characters in meeting IDs.

Note that longer meeting IDs are more secure, because they are more difficult to guess.

Restriction: If this value is set to 3 and the scheduler does not enter a vanity meeting ID, the system assigns a four-digit meeting ID to all new meetings.

Default: 4

Enable rescheduled recurring meetings

Whether to enable users to reschedule recurring meetings.

Default: Yes

Field Description

SIP Configuration

Display name Name that appears on Cisco Unified IP Phone screens during calls placed by Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

Default: Cisco Unified MeetingPlace

Username Enter the same value that is in the Access phone number 1 field on the Usage Configuration Page.

The system uses this value in the “From” address for outgoing calls.

Default: 0000

Only accept incoming calls from proxies

Whether to accept incoming calls from only the SIP proxy servers that are configured on the SIP Configuration Page.

If you select Yes, make sure that the configured SIP proxy servers include all Cisco Unified Communications Manager subscriber nodes that might send calls directly to this Cisco Unified MeetingPlace server.

Default: No

SIP domain name Domain name that is used in the “To” address for outgoing calls. If left blank, the Application Server IP address is used instead.

Typically, this field is left blank when the SIP Proxy Server fields are populated with Cisco Unified Communications Manager information.

Caution If you enter a value that does not match the domain used by the SIP proxy servers, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace will fail to dial out.

If outgoing calls fail, configure this field to match the SIP domain used by the SIP Proxy Server or your local Cisco Unified Communications Manager node. In Cisco Unified Communications Manager, the SIP domain is specified under System > Enterprise Parameters in the Organization Top Level Domain field.

Note For details about any field in Cisco Unified Communications Manager, select the field name, or select Help > This Page.

Secure Conferencing (Hardware Media Server configurations only)

Enable Secure Conferencing

Whether or not to enable secure conferencing. There are two secure conferencing modes and one non-secure mode.

For secure conferencing, configure your system for best effort or secure only:

• Best effort—Best effort mode enables MeetingPlace to attempt to establish secure connections with end points, but if this is not possible, non-secure connections are allowed. Best effort mode is intended as a short-term setting that you use during the transition from non-secure mode to secure only mode. To configure best effort mode, select Yes for Enable Secure Conferencing and Yes for Permit non-secure endpoints to connect to MeetingPlace.

• Secure only—Secure only mode ensures that non-secure end points will not be allowed to join a conference. When you have secure only mode configured, non-secure users will hear a fast busy signal if they attempt to dial into a conference. To configure secure only mode, select Yes for Enable Secure Conferencing and No for Permit non-secure endpoints to connect to MeetingPlace.

To configure non-secure conferencing, select No for Enable Secure Conferencing:

Non-secure—The default configuration in which no calls are secure. The RTP stream is not encrypted and signaling might be encrypted depending on how you configure port and transport. You can have secured signaling with this configuration (for example, TLS instead of TCP or UDP) with non-secure media.

Permit non-secure endpoints to connect to MeetingPlace

Whether or not to permit non-secure endpoints to connect to MeetingPlace. This feature works in concert with the Enable Secure Conferencing feature. You can only configure this feature if you select Yes for Enable Secure Conferencing. If you select No for Enable Secure Conferencing, this feature is automatically set to No and you cannot change the setting.

Select Yes to allow non-secure endpoints to connect with MeetingPlace. MeetingPlace will first attempt to make secure connections to endpoints but if that is not possible, MeetingPlace will allow non-secure connections.

Select No to prevent non-secure endpoints from connecting with MeetingPlace.

SIP Proxy Server

SIP Proxy Server Outgoing SIP calls are directed to these proxies. These proxies are also used to filter incoming calls if the Only accept incoming calls from proxies field is set to Yes.

Note At least one SIP proxy server must be configured to enable dial-out calls.

SIP domain name If multiple proxy servers are configured when placing a call, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace tries each server successively until it finds one that accepts the call. Once the call is accepted, this same SIP Proxy is the only one used until it fails. Note, however, that if a proxy does not respond at all (as opposed to rejecting the invite), the call attempt will probably time out before the next proxy is tried.

Note If the call attempt to the first proxy server in the list fails, you can manually modify the server list to specify a different proxy server as the first server in the list. Then place the call again.

Note If your Type of media server is set to Express Media Server, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace only attempts to retry calls after the dial out attempt times out.

You can configure up to six proxy servers.

Hostname or IP address Hostname or IP address of the SIP proxy server.

In a Cisco Unified Communications Manager environment, the SIP proxy server should be the IP address of a Cisco Unified Communications Manager node.

Enter the FQDN1 (or IP address) if the domain of the SIP proxy server differs from the domain that you configured in DNS when you installed Cisco Unified MeetingPlace.

Port TCP or UDP port on which the proxy listens for SIP calls.

Default: 5060

Transport Whether the port is TCP or UDP.

Required: Use UDP for the SIP signaling between Cisco Unified MeetingPlace and Cisco Unified Communications Manager on all Hardware Media Server integrations.

Default: UDP

1. FQDN = fully-qualified domain name

Default: No

Security

Minimum profile PIN length Number of numeric characters required in the Profile PIN for each user.

Restriction: This field does not apply to Directory Service users. See Configuring Directory Service on MeetingPlace-Scheduled and Audio-Only Deployments.

Default: 5

Change profile PIN (days) Frequency, in days, at which the Profile PIN must be changed in each user profile.

A value of 0 means that the Profile PIN never needs to change.

Restriction: This field does not apply to Directory Service users. See Configuring Directory Service on MeetingPlace-Scheduled and Audio-Only Deployments.

Default: 90

Note Cisco Unified MeetingPlace does not automatically update this information on the Cisco WebEx site. To update this information on the Cisco WebEx site, go to Cisco WebEx Configuration > Cisco WebEx Site Configuration and click the Configure WebEx button.

Minimum user password length Number of alphanumeric characters required in the User password for each user.

Restriction: This field does not apply to Directory Service users. See Configuring Directory Service on MeetingPlace-Scheduled and Audio-Only Deployments.

Default: 5

Change user password (days) Frequency, in days, at which the User password must be changed in each user profile.

A value of 0 means that the User password never expires.

Restriction: This field does not apply to Directory Service users. See Configuring Directory Service on MeetingPlace-Scheduled and Audio-Only Deployments.

Default: 90

Maximum profile sign-in attempts Number of times that a user may try to:

• Sign in to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace before the user profile is locked.

• Enter a meeting password before the call is transferred to the attendant. If no attendant is available, then the call is disconnected.

• Enter a Profile PIN to start a reservationless meeting from the TUI before the user profile is locked.

A value of 0 means that there is no limit to the number of attempts.

Before reaching the maximum number of attempts, the user can restart the counter by taking one of these actions:

• Close the browser and open a new one.

• End the call to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace and begin a new call.

Restriction: Preconfigured user profiles cannot be locked.

Default: 3

User locked interval The amount of time for which a user profile stays locked if the user fails to sign into the Administration Center. The lock expires after the specified period for administrative users but it does not expire for end users. An administrator must manually unlock an end user’s user profile.

A value of 0 means the user profile stays locked until the System administrator unlocks it.

Default: 0

New users must change passwords at first sign-in

This setting determines the defaults for Force user password change at next sign-in and for Force PIN change at next sign-in on the Add User Profile Page.

Restriction: If you change this setting, it does not affect existing user profiles.

This means that you can create a user John with Force user password change at next sign-in set to No. Before John tries to sign in for the first time, you change New users must change passwords at first sign-in to Yes, the system does not force John to change his password because this setting does not affect existing user profiles.

By contrast, you can create a user John with the Force user password change at next sign-in field set to Yes. Before John tries to sign in for the first time, you change New users must change passwords at first sign-in to No, the system forces John to change his password on first sign in even though the force password field is set to No.

Changing the value of New users must change passwords at first sign-in does not affect already created users. It does not matter if this field is Yes or No; it only matters what is set in the user profile (Force user password change at next sign-in and Force PIN change at next sign-in fields).

Default: No

Field Description

Severity level For normal operations, select minor, which provides a list of all log entries, or information, which lists everything.

Default: major

Sort by date Whether to list the oldest or newest messages first.

Note The system sorts messages by using the date and time that each message was added to the log file. If time is not synchronized across all Cisco Unified MeetingPlace servers, the time used for sorting might differ from the displayed time stamps, and the log messages might seem to appear out of order. The time stamp for each message is used by the system to filter out messages that are outside the specified start and end dates.

Default: Sort by date descending

Start date Default: yesterday (mm/dd/yyyy)

End date Default: today (mm/dd/yyyy)
