Hello there!Did you just start your studies in Groningen? Next to your hard work you probably also like to have some time for yourself. At Ad Fundum you can practice scuba diving sports, find some relaxation (or excitement!) enjoying the under¬water world, or dive under in our social activities. Have you always wondered what it is to scuba dive? Or has this brochure just triggered your interest? Come and train with us, enjoy an introduction dive, join us for a drink, in short: get introduced into our club! Do you already live / study in Groningen but are you still unfamiliar whit scuba diving? Don’t panic, you are never too old to learn. You are just as welcome as new students. And then there is the group of (almost) experienced divers: come and visit us, experience Ad Fundum and join our club!

Diving at Ad Fundum? In order to dive, you need a license. Don’t worry, you can get one at Ad Fundum. We have experienced instructors, usually trained at our club themselves. Our organization joined CMAS, a world renowned diving organization so the licenses we issue are accepted through-out the world. At our club, you can get all levels of licenses and even become an instructor. In the first half year of your training you will get lessons in the indoor swimming pool with your fellow students. There you will learn the basics of scuba diving but you will also join our other members, swim with us and acquire and improve your snorkeling skills. When spring starts, you will continue your education in one of the diving-suitable lakes near Groningen. Each year we plan several weekends where you can practice your diving skills but where you can also swim, barbeque or simply enjoy the company of the others while bathing in the sun. Outside lessons are individually so how fast you progress is all up to you. You can already dive from the first moments. You’ll start with an instructor; after a couple of dives you will be able to dive with your fellow divers. Once you progress even further, you can participate in more advance diving like for example diving with currents, diving at night, doing drift dives

About our clubWe prefer to tell you in person but we will already give you some insight into our organization. Ad Fundum was founded in 1973 as part of the fraternity Vindicat. After a few years, we separated and started to develop our own culture as a close family of members and actively diving donors. Within this group – usually between 50 and 60 divers – you can always find someone to dive with. Everyone has their own preferences. Some dive to see the underwater flora and fauna, with small and large creatures, others prefer bad-ass diving from our own boat. Many members visit the tropical places in the world. What we all share in common is our no-nonsense attitude: a lot is possible as long as it is safe. Diving binds us but the club is bigger than that. We organize all kinds of events and you will often see that our members also take the initiative to do so on their own. Of course, we have all our diving weekends near Groningen and in Zeeland, our club holidays and the spontaneous planned diving trips, we also have a life on dry land. Some examples of these activities are a visit to our (national) Dive Medical Center at Den Helder, or a tour by the military diving artifacts but also modern equipment exhibited at the Lemmer divers museum. Also, a visit to the Hyperbaric Chamber at the AMC hospital with a professional lecture about diving diseases and their treatments is on the agenda. There you can experience firsthand what it is to make deep dives ashore. Do you want to keep it more relaxed, you can join us to pub quizzes or movie nights.

Get to know Ad FundumA fun way to get to know us is via one of our introduction dives. At the beginning of the first semester we organize several introdives, we usually have a second chance at the beginning of the second semester. On the night of an introdive you first get a lecture about our club and what it means to be a member. We give you an insight into what it is to dive and explain the introduction dive you are going to make in more detail. After you got your safety instruction, an experienced instructor will guide you in the swimming pool where you can experience what it is to swim with scuba gear, being able to continue breathing underwater. You will dive for approximately half an hour. The other half of the our of pool time you will join the other members of the club in a swimming and snorkeling training. And after you experiences the wet part of the day, don’t go home yet! Now you can dive into the social life of the club. We are interested into your life story and are willing to trade it with our diving adventures stories so we invite you to join us for a pub evening.Missed the introduction dives? Don’t worry, contact us and we can see if we can tailor make you an introduction into our club.
